Charming Croatia
I want to tell you all about my trip to Croatia, in September 2018 we stayed 7 nights. I love this time of year to travel to Croatia as the weather is around 24 degrees, not to hot and great for exploring Porec old town.
When visiting Croatia, we always stay with Valamar brand of hotels they are high end luxury and their hotels are for everyone! This stay we stayed at the Parentino hotel just outside Porec old town, this a family hotel.
Travelling with younger children can be challenging, but the Valamar brand have everything you could possibly need to make your stay enjoyable and easy. Nappy stations around the hotel (they provide nappies and wipes) Baby, Kids & Teens clubs from new-born age, they even have a sleeping cots room where you can leave your little ones with fully qualified and supervised staff. The entertainment team are fabulous, and they have a full daytime / evening entertainment programme, with some great evening shows/ bands for us adults.
Porec old town is simply stunning, little cobbled streets, lots of history and charm. Beautiful clothes, jewellery and souvenir shops. Quirky little bars and café. A glass of wine is around £3 and a cocktail £5 a lot cheaper then back in Manchester.
If you have been to Croatia, you will know it’s known for its truffle and olive oil, there are lots of daytrips you can do searching for local truffle or visiting a olive press factory sampling the finest produce they have made.
We didn’t do the daytrips, but there are lots too sample in the local shops of Old town Porec and yes you guessed it we return with truffle oil and powder which are a fantastic addition to any pasta dish now in my kitchen.
Another extremely popular daytrip from Porec is Venice, in just 3 short hours you could be sat having a coffee in St Marks Square and the cost is around £80 per person!!
We stayed half board at our hotel, can I add here the food was delicious with a vast amount of choice and the standard is the same across all Valamar hotels we have stayed.
We did go out to a couple of restaurants during our time, one that stood out amongst the rest was a Michelin star called Sv Nikola. The food there was delicious we sampled the local cuisine of truffle pasta with steak, it was delicious and the bill was very reasonable! The restaurant was great with the children too and offered a child’s menu, I never thought id see the day where I would dine in such a high-class restaurant with my boys!
Lastly, I want to tell you about the sunsets! If you’re a sucker for a sunset like me, then the sun setting over old town Porec is simply stunning, WOW get your camera out and take lots of beautiful photos.
