An Unforgettable NCL Cruise from Miami on Norwegian Encore

Helen Davis on 29 Nov 2025

There’s something incredibly special about starting a cruise from Miami, and my Norwegian Cruise Line journey was unforgettable from the very first moment. As we departed the port, we sailed past stunning waterfront mansions & the famous millionaire homes, setting the tone perfectly for what was going to be an incredible voyage.

Life on Board Norwegian Encore

I was lucky enough to sail on Norwegian Encore, and the ship truly impressed me.  From the moment I stepped on board, the atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed, and the staff were some of the friendliest I’ve experienced at sea  always smiling, welcoming, and happy to help.

The entertainment onboard was outstanding.  I thoroughly enjoyed the shows, with The Choir man being so good and Icon of the Seas (Band Show) being energetic, fun, and brilliantly produced.

The Best Spa at Sea

One of the standout features for me was the spa.  I purchased access to the Thermal Suite for the full week, and it was hands down the best thermal suite I’ve ever seen on a cruise ship.  The facilities were incredible, and it became my go-to place to unwind.  If relaxation is important to you, this is absolutely worth it.

Cabin Comfort & Balcony Bliss

My cabin was spotless, modern, and incredibly comfortable, but the real highlight was the balcony.  Sitting outside, listening to the sound of the waves and watching the ocean stretch endlessly ahead, was pure bliss.  You simply can’t beat falling asleep to the sound of the sea.

Adults-Only Relaxation & Onboard Fun

I loved the H2O adults-only area, which was a fantastic perk. It was the perfect spot to sunbathe in peace and enjoy a quieter atmosphere.

For something more adrenaline-fuelled, I tried the go-karts onboard, and they were so much fun — a real highlight and something completely unique at sea.

Beautiful Ports of Call

Harvest Caye was postcard-perfect, with white sand beaches, palm trees, and turquoise waters. I spent the day relaxing and soaking up the scenery, but for those wanting adventure, there’s also a zip line available.

In Roatán, Honduras, I went on an ATV excursion — equal parts fun and slightly terrifying!  It was such an exciting way to explore the island and definitely got the adrenaline pumping.

Grand Cayman was another standout.  I visited Tukka at West Bay, where I enjoyed my favourite dish of the trip — lobster.  We also stopped at Hell (yes, really!) and spent time at the famous Seven Mile Beach, which truly lives up to its reputation.  The sand, the water, and the atmosphere made it one of those places I won’t forget in a hurry.

A Festive Surprise at Sea

On 1st December, we woke up to a magical surprise — the ship had been completely transformed for Christmas, with decorations everywhere.  It instantly added a festive feel and made the cruise even more special.

A Smart Tip for Disembarkation Day

One of my biggest tips for anyone cruising from Miami: on the final day, I booked a city tour that ended at the airport.  My luggage was safely stored while I enjoyed sightseeing, including time in Little Havana, before flying home. It was a stress-free and enjoyable way to make the most of the last day.

Final Thoughts

This NCL cruise on Norwegian Encore delivered everything — incredible entertainment, outstanding relaxation, exciting excursions, beautiful beaches, and warm, friendly service throughout.  From sailing past millionaire homes in Miami to festive surprises at sea, it was a cruise experience I’ll treasure and one I’d highly recommend.
