Cycling Meets Paradise – Why Majorca is the Ultimate Training Camp Destination for Couples

Cyclists — How Many Times Have You Mentioned a “Training Week” and Seen Your Partner Roll Their Eyes?

We’ve all  been there — chasing miles while trying to keep the peace at home! Balancing your training goals with quality time together can feel impossible. But what if you could have the best of both worlds: epic rides and a proper holiday together?

That’s where Majorca comes in — the island that lets you clock your training hours and keep everyone happy.

Why Majorca?

If you’ve ever dreamed of a cyclist’s paradise, this is it. Smooth tarmac, quiet roads, sunshine, and scenery that makes every climb worth it — Majorca has it all.

From gentle coastal spins and rolling countryside routes to the iconic climbs of the Serra de Tramuntana, there’s something here for every rider. Each hairpin bend rewards you with sweeping views over turquoise waters and terracotta rooftops — the kind of beauty that makes you forget the lactic burn in your legs.

And when the ride’s over? Time to swap cleats for flip-flops.

Majorca’s easy going island vibe makes recovery days a joy — think long lunches by the beach, strolls through charming villages, and tapas at sunset. The island is packed with stylish cafés, local markets, and hidden coves perfect for a swim. Even your non-cycling travel companions will find plenty to love.

With mild winters, warm springs, and a cycling season that stretches nearly all year, it’s no wonder pros and weekend warriors alike flock here. Add in short flights from across Europe, easy airport transfers, and tons of bike-friendly accommodation, and you’ve got the ultimate setup — whether it’s a full training camp or just a cheeky weekend escape.

Where We Stayed

We opted for a cheeky weekend break, checking into INNSiDE by Meliá Alcudia, and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect. Chic design, just minutes from the beach, and surrounded by great restaurants and bars — it ticked all the boxes.

Our mornings quickly fell into a blissful routine: Adam would head out for his ride whilst I relaxed by the sea, and by lunchtime, we’d meet back up for fresh seafood and a glass of local wine. Simple pleasures, Majorcan sunshine, and no compromise — absolute perfection.

🧳 Travel & Tips

A few things we picked up along the way:

  • Best time to go: February–May and September–October offer ideal weather and quieter roads.
  • Bike hire: Plenty of local shops rent top-spec bikes — just pre-book during peak months.
  • Road etiquette: Drivers are courteous, but always ride single file, stay visible, and use lights.
  • Hydration: Carry bottles — many village fountains are safe for refills, but check for “agua potable.”
  • Bringing your own bike? We often do! Pop an Apple AirTag (or similar tracker) in your bike box — it’s rare for bikes to go missing, but it’s one less thing to worry about.

Time to Plan Your Next Training Camp

Spring is almost upon us — and Majorca is already calling. Whether you’re prepping for your next big event or just craving some sunshine and smooth roads, this island delivers.

So start planning your next cycling escape now. Your legs will love you for it… and your partner just might too. 🌴🚴‍♂️✨
