A Peaceful Morning at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi

During my recent trip to Abu Dhabi, I visited the stunning Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and it completely took my breath away. With its gleaming white domes, intricate marble designs, and tranquil reflecting pools, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the world’s most beautiful places of worship.

Stepping inside, the sense of peace is immediate. Sunlight filters through delicate arches, glistening on chandeliers made from Swarovski crystals, while the vast prayer hall is anchored by the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet. It’s impossible not to feel moved by the craftsmanship and serenity.

My Top Tips for Visiting

Go early or at sunset: Early mornings are calm and quiet; sunset adds a golden glow perfect for photos.

Dress modestly: Women should cover hair, arms, and legs; men should wear long trousers. Abayas and headscarves are available at the entrance.

Join a guided tour: The free tours are informative and give wonderful insight into the mosque’s history and design.

Take your time: Allow at least 90 minutes to wander, reflect, and capture the details.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is far more than a photo opportunity, it’s a powerful reminder of unity, artistry, and peace. A must-see on any trip to Abu Dhabi.
