From Marrakech Magic To Pool Villa Perfection: My Stay At Mandarin Oriental, Morocco

Some places you visit. Others you feel. Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech was very much the latter for me. From the moment I stepped into my Mandarin Pool Villa, I knew this stay was going to be something special. 

As the doors opened onto the terrace, it was a genuine wow moment. A large private pool shimmering in the Moroccan sun, a separate jacuzzi section, and complete privacy framed by lush gardens. Inside, the villa flowed beautifully: a spacious living area, elegant bedroom and an  incredible bathroom that felt like a private spa. Every detail whispered luxury, yet the atmosphere remained calm, comfortable and inviting.

Service throughout the resort was attentive and genuinely warm, the sort of hospitality that anticipates what you need before you even ask, yet still feels relaxed and friendly. 

Sunset Rituals At 'The Tent' 

My favourite ritual quickly became sunset at 'The Tent'. With a perfectly mixed cocktail in hand, watching the sky soften over the gardens in a serene, calming atmosphere was the most beautiful way to start the evening.

Evenings at 'Ling Ling'

From watching the sunset, I would wander over to Ling Ling for dinner. The vibe, the music, the energy and the food all came together to create an experience that felt chic yet still wonderfully comfortable. Every dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented. 

Stepping back in Time: The Ancient Medina 

A must during your stay is a visit to Marrakech’s ancient medina, around 15 minutes away by taxi. Stepping through its gates feels like walking into another world. The medina is the historic heart of the city: a maze of narrow alleyways, traditional riads, aromatic spice stalls and vibrant souks overflowing with handcrafted lanterns, leather, ceramics and colourful textiles. You will hear the calls of traders, catch the scent of fresh mint tea and orange blossom, and see daily life unfold in tiny squares and hidden courtyards. It is intense, fascinating and utterly authentic, a complete contrast to the calm luxury of the resort and the perfect way to experience the real soul of Marrakech before retreating back to your private sanctuary.<

An Honest Note About The Location

One small, honest note: the resort sits under the flight path, so you may see planes passing overhead. For me, it never once diminished the experience. The tranquillity, privacy and overall ambience of the resort more than outweighed this, and I still found it to be an exceptional place to truly unwind.
