Step onboard Ambition with me
Come with me while I spend the afternoon aboard Ambassadors Ambition ship/
I had the opportunity to spend a few hours onboard Ambition, one of Ambassador Cruise Line’s ocean ships, taking part in a guided tour designed specifically for travel professionals. As a travel agent, I always value seeing a ship in person, but this visit was particularly interesting for me given my background as a former Royal Caribbean crew member, where I spent three years living and working onboard. That experience has trained me to look beyond glossy brochures and really assess how a ship feels, functions, and delivers for its guests.
During the tour, we explored a variety of cabin categories, from balcony suites to inside solo. Cabins felt bright, calm, and well laid out. Ambition offers a range of onboard amenities that support a relaxed, traditional cruising style. On deck, the pool area is open and easy to navigate, with plenty of space for sun loungers and seating rather than an overly busy, resort‑style layout. This will appeal to guests who enjoy lounging with a book, chatting with fellow passengers, or simply soaking up the atmosphere without loud music or crowds dominating the space.
I was also impressed by how clearly laid out the ship felt. Digital information screens placed around the ship make it easy for guests to find their way, check what’s on, view deck plans, or explore dining and entertainment options. These interactive displays are especially helpful for first‑time cruisers or anyone who appreciates clear, accessible information without needing to rely on paper schedules.
Public areas throughout the ship feel spacious and thoughtfully designed, with a classic cruise‑ship elegance rather than a flashy, theme‑park vibe. From experience, I know that these quieter lounges, cafés, and shared spaces are often where guests spend the most time — and Ambition seems well suited to socialising, relaxing, and taking the cruise at a comfortable pace.
What really stood out during my visit was Ambassador’s clear focus on the overall guest experience. This is reinforced through amenities that encourage slower travel, longer stays in destination, and a shipboard environment that feels friendly and approachable. It’s cruising designed for people who enjoy the journey just as much as the ports.
Recently refurbed in 2025, adults only and amazing northern lights itineraries from UK ports, it is safe to say I am a big fan of this line. As someone who has worked onboard ships for months at a time, I know how important it is to match the right ship to the right traveller. If you’re considering an Ambassador cruise and want honest advice, I’d love to help you decide if an Ambassador cruise is the right fit for you.
