Barbados - November 2024: Sunsets, Cricket & Caribbean Magic

Leanne Rudd on 09 November 2024
My November 2024 escape to Barbados was one for the books—sun-drenched days, thrilling cricket, rich island culture, and a few unforgettable surprises along the way. Whether lounging on beaches, sipping rum cocktails, or cheering on England, this trip was a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure.

Where I Stayed: Coconut Court & Sea Breeze My island home base started at the charming Coconut Court Beach Hotel, with its laid-back atmosphere, stunning beach access, and that classic Bajan hospitality. Midway through, I moved to the Sea Breeze Beach House, an all-inclusive gem with gorgeous suites, infinity pools, and some of the best beachside dining I’ve experienced. Both places had their own unique vibe—and both made it very hard to leave!

England vs West Indies: A Cricket Fan’s Dream As Richard is a lifelong cricket fan, being in Barbados to watch England take on the West Indies was a pinch me moment. The buzz in the stadium was electric—singing, dancing, cheering—every ball felt like an event. There’s no better place to experience cricket than the Caribbean, where passion meets party. Watching it all unfold in the sun, surrounded by fellow fans, was a definite highlight of the trip.

Cool Runnings Catamaran Cruise: Turtles & Shipwrecks One of the most magical days was spent on the Cool Runnings catamaran cruise. We set sail along the island’s stunning coast, music playing, drinks flowing, and that warm Caribbean breeze in our hair. I got to swim with sea turtles—a surreal, peaceful moment—and explore sunken shipwrecks teeming with marine life. Snorkelling in those clear turquoise waters was like entering another world.

Food, Music & Local Flavour Friday night in Oistins Fish Fry is a must-do. I joined locals and visitors alike for a night of freshly grilled fish, rum punch, and live music under the stars. The smell of jerk seasoning in the air, the rhythm of calypso beats, and the clatter of dominoes being played nearby made it one of the most authentic and vibrant nights of my trip.

Final Reflections From cricket to catamarans, Friday fish fries to lazy beach days, Barbados in November delivered everything I hoped for—and more. Whether you're a sports lover, foodie, sun-seeker, or explorer, this island wraps you in its rhythm and leaves you longing to return. I’ll be back, Barbados. Maybe for the next England tour—and definitely for another swim with turtles.
