Disney Cruise Line Race to Southampton FAM 2025
My Unforgettable Disney Fantasy Experience: September 2025
Ever wondered what it would be like to experience a Disney Cruise? I have recently sailed on the Disney Fantasy, here is my take on my experience and why I think everyone needs to experience a Disney Cruise atleast once in their life :)
My Unforgettable Disney Fantasy Experience: September 2025
September 2025 brought a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: I was thrilled to win a spot on the Disney Cruise Line Race to Southampton Fam trip. Alongside a select group of expert agents and the imaginative Disney Destinations team, I stepped aboard the incredible Disney Fantasy, ready to be enchanted by everything this iconic cruise ship and her Norwegian itinerary had to offer.
Setting Sail from Southampton
Our journey started in Southampton, the UK’s legendary cruise port. Embarking on the Disney Fantasy, we were greeted with Disney’s signature hospitality: a personal welcome announced in the grand atrium—truly a magical way to begin our voyage! Luggage logistics were effortless. Our suitcases were taken care of at port and later appeared outside our stateroom as if by magic.
Our home for the week was a spacious Verandah stateroom—ideal for families with its plush double bed, sofa bed, pull-down bunk, private balcony, and the all-important split bathroom and separate toilet. Practical, comfortable, and sprinkled with that Disney attention to detail.
Discovering the Kids’ Clubs
As soon as we settled in, we made the most of the open afternoon to explore all the legendary kids’ clubs:
- It’s a Small World Nursery: Designed for the tiniest travellers, this nurturing space offers safe, gentle play and attentive care.
- Oceaneer Club & Oceaneer Lab: For ages 3-10, offering interactive games, Marvel and Star Wars adventures, arts, and imaginative themed play zones.
- Edge: A cool hangout for tweens aged 11-14, equipped with games, music, and digital touches perfect for making friends.
- Vibe: Teens (14-17) enjoy their own stylish retreat, complete with movies, social events, and a chilled-out vibe into the evening.
Cast members are welcoming and enthusiastic, and the clubs remain open from morning until late at night—so grown-ups can savour dining, shows, or simply relax, knowing their little ones are being cared for and entertained with true Disney magic.
Magical Ports of Call
Our sailing explored some of Norway’s most picturesque destinations:
- Southampton: The UK’s cruise capital and the perfect spot to start a grand adventure.
- Olden: A stunning village surrounded by soaring peaks, glaciers, and tranquil lakes.
- Ålesund: Famed for its Art Nouveau architecture and the breathtaking Mount Aksla viewpoint.
- Stavanger: Bursting with charm, colourful harbours, and easy access to the incredible Lysefjord.
Rotational Dining & Legendary Disney Eats
We made the most of Disney’s unique rotational dining system, each evening savouring the signature atmosphere and exceptional menus of a different restaurant, guided by the same wonderful serving team. Animator’s Palate remains a standout favourite: surrounded by evolving Disney animation, dinner was made even more memorable by a surprise visit from Crush the turtle!
Hungry after a day of fun? Cabanas delivered endless options, from fresh lunches to tempting desserts—Disney’s reputation for fabulous food is well deserved. And for grown-ups, delicious treats and artistry were always available at Cove Café (my peaceful morning ritual) and the sophisticated Skyline Bar, where I can highly recommend the Paris 75 cocktail.
Character Encounters & Onboard Entertainment
Nothing creates memories quite like Disney’s daily character meet and greets. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and other beloved friends could always be spotted on deck, at parties, or popping by unexpectedly—delighting guests of every age.
We joined in the lively Sail Away Party and went all-out for Pirate Night—a swashbuckling deck celebration complete with Captain Jack Sparrow, themed activities, fireworks, and plenty of opportunities to unleash your inner pirate.
Evenings sparkled with dazzling entertainment, from the spectacular “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” to adults-only lounges, karaoke, and indulgence at Palo, the Italian steakhouse (insider tip: pre-order the souffle!).
Unexpected Fun & Storytelling Moments
Our days at sea were filled with fun twists: Disney-style training workshops, quizzes, the uproarious “Race Around the Disney Fantasy” (our team actually won a cocktail-making masterclass!), and a competitive game of the shipwide Midship Detective Agency—bringing out everyone’s inner detective with clever clues and magical moving picture frames.
Although the Norwegian weather occasionally kept us on our toes, it only added to the sense of adventure. A misty day in Ålesund was perfect for a scenic train ride up to sweeping fjord views.
