Step outside the hotel and you’re right in the heart of one of Crete’s most interesting corners. Plaka is just below you, a small fishing village where waterfront tavernas line the shore, while Elounda offers a livelier feel with cafés, shops, and boat trips heading out to Spinalonga. The island itself is well worth a visit, with its Venetian fortifications and layered history giving it a very different feel to the rest of the coastline.
