My Stay at Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park & Playa Blanca

I have recently come back from a stay at Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park in Playa Blanca, having last visited the area approximately 3 years ago.

Playa Blanca sits on the sheltered southern tip of the island and takes about 30 minutes to reach by transfer from Lanzarote Airport. It has grown from a small fishing village into a smart, low-rise resort built around three things that, for me, make it perfect for a holiday: a long, flat seafront promenade, a choice of sandy beaches, and plenty of relaxed restaurants and bars. Evenings are about strolling, people-watching and enjoying a drink with a sea view rather than late-night clubbing, which makes it ideal for couples and families.

Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park enjoys a fantastic location right on the promenade, which is popular with walkers and runners, and it is close to the very chilled Flamingo Beach. The three curved buildings wrap around the pools and gardens, all facing the Atlantic, and on a clear day you can see Fuerteventura in the distance. Walking into the lobby, you are greeted by floor-to-ceiling windows and that instant holiday moment of blue sea and sky. Our room had a lovely central sea view, and it was nice to start each day with a coffee on the balcony, looking out over the ocean and pool area.

What impressed me most was how well the hotel caters for different types of guests. One wing is very family focused, with children’s pools, waterslides and a truck-style station where kids can help themselves to snacks, drinks and ice creams. The central area has more pools and a sociable feel. For adults wanting more peace and quiet, there is the option to upgrade to the Star Prestige section, which offers an adults-only pool and Jacuzzi, quieter terraces and a dedicated restaurant area. It works particularly well for extended families, with some of the party choosing to spend time in Star Prestige and others in the livelier sections.

The food was consistently good throughout my stay. The main buffet restaurant offers plenty of variety at every meal, from fresh salads, grilled fish and good-quality meats to straightforward favourites for fussier eaters and children. As a Star Prestige guest, you also have access to a calmer restaurant space, which feels a little more tranquil at busy times.

Location is a real highlight. You can step straight out onto the promenade and walk in one direction to the harbour, where you can catch the regular ferry across to Fuerteventura. It is a simple, scenic crossing of around 30 minutes and makes a great little day trip if you fancy exploring another island without needing to organise a full excursion. I would also definitely recommend the 40-minute walk along the seafront to Marina Rubicón, a stylish marina lined with yachts, boutiques and waterfront bars and restaurants. There is a market here every Wednesday and Saturday from around 9 am till 2 pm, where you can browse handmade items, clothes and local Canarian products.

Overall, my recent visit confirmed that Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park, combined with Playa Blanca’s promenade, the easy ferry link to Fuerteventura and the atmosphere of Marina Rubicón, is an excellent choice for a year-round sunshine escape for both families and couples.
