Les Deux Alpes Ski with Inghams
A short ski break experiencing Les 2 Alpes and Alpe D'Huez
Ski Adventure with Inghams: Les Deux Alpes & Alpe d’Huez I recently had the pleasure of joining Inghams on a ski familiarisation trip to Les Deux Alpes, and what an adventure it was! From charming alpine lodges to thrilling ski experiences, here’s a roundup of our trip highlights.

Arrival & Base Camp Lodge
We flew into Chambery Airport, a small airstrip with a surprisingly sharp landing, before making the scenic 2.5-hour drive up to Les Deux Alpes. Our home for the first few nights was the Base Camp Lodge, a stylish and comfortable hotel right in the heart of the village.
🏨 The lodge offers a mix
of doubles, twins, family rooms, suites, and shared dorms — perfect for
couples, families, or groups.
📍
It’s just a short walk to the Diable chairlift, shops, and bars.
🍽️
On-site, there’s a restaurant and bar with a sunny terrace — ideal for
unwinding after a day on the slopes.

Extra touches include a sauna, fitness room, ski room, and free Wi-Fi.
After settling in, our Inghams resort rep, Kevin, took us to the ski hire shop, just a short stroll away, to get ready for the slopes the next day. That evening, we joined the rest of the group (who had flown in from Gatwick) for drinks and dinner — the perfect way to kick off the trip.
Day 1: Hitting the Slopes
Our first morning started with a hearty breakfast of meats, cheeses, pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, and boiled eggs — all self-service, clean, and nicely presented.
We took the local bus to the Jaundry gondola to meet our ski instructors, Mark and James, who split us into two groups by ability and guided us all the way up to the glacier. Lunch was at the Pano Bar, offering a great spot to refuel before heading back out for more skiing.
Day 2: A Taste of Alpe d’Huez
Day two brought a short minibus transfer to Alpe d’Huez, giving us a chance to explore this famous resort. Our instructor, Julienne, was engaging, charismatic, and great fun. We made our way to the top to ski La Sarenne, Europe’s longest black run — an exhilarating experience, especially since it had been five years since my last visit.
After lunch at the Cabina Restaurant, we inspected some local hotels:
- Hôtel Le Pic Blanc – a 4★ alpine hotel in the Les Bergers area with comfortable rooms (many with mountain views), wellness facilities including an indoor pool and spa, and an on-site restaurant serving local cuisine. Perfect for a relaxing, wellness-focused stay.
- MMV Village Club Les Bergers – a family-friendly club hotel with spacious rooms, full-board dining, lively on-site activities, and direct ski access. Ideal for families wanting fun and convenience.
We also walked through the old town to see Inghams’ chalets, including the exclusive Chalet La Brèche, a ski-in/ski-out property with eight bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms, a hot tub, sauna, and a sociable Scandinavian-inspired interior.
The return journey to Les Deux Alpes was scenic but winding — 21 hairpin bends for those prone to car sickness! Dinner back at the lodge featured a sumptuous 3-course meal with options like tartiflette, sirloin steak, and chocolate mousse.
Day 3: First Tracks
For the early risers, we experienced First Tracks, a unique morning ski session that lets you be among the first on freshly groomed slopes. Guided by the pisteurs, we helped check poles, reposition barriers, and ensured the slopes were safe — all before most of the resort had opened. Breakfast followed at a mountain restaurant, making for a truly memorable alpine morning.
Later, we enjoyed après-ski and live music in town before dinner, rounding out another perfect day.
Departure & Final Impressions
On our last morning, we explored the town further and checked out the range of accommodations Inghams offers, from 2★ hotels to Belambra Clubs Les Crêtes, an all-inclusive, family-friendly club with ski-in/ski-out access, pools, wellness facilities, and lively evening entertainment.
Throughout the trip, Kevin, our Inghams rep, was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful — making the whole experience seamless and stress-free.
Final Thoughts
This ski familiarisation trip with Inghams showcased not only the incredible skiing opportunities of Les Deux Alpes and Alpe d’Huez but also the variety of accommodation and experiences on offer. Whether you’re a family, couple, or group of friends, Inghams provides a mix of comfort, convenience, and alpine charm — plus the insider knowledge to make your ski holiday unforgettable.
