Think there’s nothing to do in the Maldives with kids? Think again…
Sirru Fen Fushi, Maldives
One of the biggest myths I hear is: “The Maldives is beautiful… but wouldn’t we get bored?” Especially when travelling with children. Having just spent 8 nights at Sirru Fen Fushi, I can confidently say… absolutely not. In fact, we left feeling like we needed more time.

It’s not just a beach holiday… it’s an experience
Yes, the Maldives is famous for its white sand beaches and turquoise water - but what really makes it special is everything you can do. During our stay, we:
- Went on a sunset dolphin cruise (with dolphins racing alongside the boat)
- Snorkelled with nurse sharks
- Joined a turtle research trip with a marine biologist
- Went scuba diving with the incredible Sub Oceanic team
-Tried hand line fishing

- Played tennis as a family
- Painted coconuts and joined art classes

- Went stargazing under some of the clearest skies I’ve ever seen
-Made Turtle keyrings in the Sustainability Lab

And that’s alongside the simple pleasures:
– Swimming in the pool
– Jumping straight into the ocean from our water villa
– Spotting blacktip reef sharks, eagle rays and tropical fish just metres from our deck
And we still didn’t do everything…The list of activities we didn’t get round to is just as long:
- Jet skis, seabobs, parasailing, flyboarding, e-foiling, banana rides, glass-bottom canoes, sandbank picnics, sunrise yoga, Muay Thai, big game fishing…There is genuinely something for everyone—whether you want high-energy activities or complete relaxation.

Why 8 nights didn’t feel like enough
We stayed for 8 nights… and it flew by. The Maldives has a way of slowing you down in the best possible way. It’s not just about ticking off activities—it’s about properly switching off from everyday life. Honestly? Two weeks would be ideal. And if you’re worried about staying on one island for that long, there are two great options:
- Combine two different resorts for variety, Or
- Pair the Maldives with somewhere like Sri Lanka, just 1 hour 30 minutes away, for culture, wildlife and adventure.
Getting there is easier than you think. We flew direct to Malé, followed by a 50-minute seaplane transfer to the resort—an experience in itself, with incredible views over the atolls.
