Palais Le Brun, Valletta – A Quiet Gem in the Heart of Malta

Romy Frow on 22 August 2025
When it comes to finding the perfect place to stay in Valletta, Malta’s historic and charming capital, Palais Le Brun stands out as a boutique hotel that blends old-world elegance with modern comfort. We recently had the pleasure of staying here and wanted to share our experience — especially for those planning a Malta getaway with comfort, convenience, and a touch of luxury in mind.

🏨 The Hotel & Location

Palais Le Brun truly lives up to its reputation. From the moment you arrive, you’re met with friendly, welcoming staff who make check-in seamless and are always ready to help with local tips.

One of the hotel’s biggest strengths is its location — just a short 5–10 minute walk from the vibrant city centre. It's close enough to explore Valletta's main sights, restaurants, and shops on foot, yet set far enough away to offer a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, which was perfect for our family.

🛏️ Rooms with Character

We stayed in a room with a private whirlpool, which became one of our favourite ways to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The room itself was spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated ,the kind of place you actually look forward to returning to after a day out.

🍳 Breakfast & Dining

Breakfast was a lovely start to the day. While the buffet is modest in size, it has all the essentials and if you’re looking for something a bit more special, you can order from the à la carte menu, which offered a nice variety of freshly prepared options.

🏊‍♀️ The Pool

The hotel features a small rooftop pool, which is perfect for a quick dip to cool off. While it's not built for serious swimming, it was just right for relaxing and enjoying the Maltese sunshine after a day of exploring.

One small note: we did notice that the pool filter could use some improvement, as a few stray hairs were visible during our swim. It's a minor detail but one that could be addressed to elevate the experience even further.

✔️ Final Thoughts

Palais Le Brun offers a winning combination of style, service, and location. It's ideal for travellers who want a quiet retreat without sacrificing easy access to Valletta’s lively centre. The charming atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and genuinely kind staff make it a hotel we’re happy to recommend to our clients.

We made use of the 2 day Hop on Hop off bus starting in Valletta one for the North route and one for the South Route. If you have not been to Valletta before I would not do it as there is so much to explore in Valletta itself that you wont need more to do. It takes a long time on both routes and they only run every hour so you need to plan your day out accordingly. The Science museum - Esplora - is well worth a visit and you can easily spend 2 - 3 hours there.

Loads of food options in Valletta with a fussy eater the Food Hall was our go to as it meant we could each choose a different type of food and our son could have pasta or pizza ( his favourite) every day. It also has a little supermarket on the bottom of that food hall with loads of British foods available.
