I am scared of small boats are you ?

Have you always wanted to do something but have a phobia which has stopped you from doing it or have you put of going to that destination because of it ?

One thing you won’t know about me and are probably a bit surprised about as I go on cruises all the time! is I don’t like small boats, cruise ships fine small speed boats are a no! I hate them, the last time I went on a small boat I had a mini melt down, all rather embarrassing in front of a tender boat of other cruise passengers!

But I really wanted to add the Maldives onto the end of my trip to Doha, now the only way to reach the islands is by Sea plane which has a max luggage allowance of 20kg I was never going to manage that or by Speed Boat with the journeys being anything from 10 – 55 minutes,

I researched my islands and found a number of islands just a 15 minute or less speed boat from Male, now I thought even I could close my eyes for 15 minutes and it would all be over, I will be honest and say I was shaking when I got on the boat and I did close my eye the minute it started to move along with some deep breathing but I did it and after about 5 minutes I even opened my eyes and saw the amazing azure blue water and the sunshine, I was equally pleased to get off the other end, but arriving in Paradise was worth it and I am so proud of myself for doing it especially travelling solo too, as you can see from the big smile on my face in the photo!
