A short Break to Kotor, Montenegro
Kotor, Montenegro has been on my wish list for a while, so we decided to have a short break there recently.
Many people visit Kotor for a day trip, whilst on a cruise, but we wanted to go for a little longer. Our flight from Gatwick to Tivat was quick, as was the private transfer through the mountain tunnel to Kotor and our apartment base.
Only a 15/20 minute walk along the bay, with a few restaurants and bars to enjoy, you come to the medieval walled old city. A little like a mini Dubrovnik, there are lots of interesting buildings, shops, restaurants and sites to enjoy. During the day it is very busy with cruise ship passengers, but later in the afternoon and evening it is much quieter and easier to enjoy.
During our stay we also took a speed boat trip around the bay (it was a bit of a rough/cold ride) and visited the submarine tunnels, Our Lady of The Rocks and Blue Caves. We also jumped in a taxi to the lovely town of Perast, a short drive around the bay and Porto Montenegro in Tivat to visit the designer shops ( and what we could not afford) and superyachts!
Kotor is an ideal short break destination for around 3 nights and there are many lovely places to stay including the Hotel Forza Terre, which is situated in an ideal relaxing location, a short taxi or 40 mins walk into the old town.
