Cheddar Girls Break

I recently enjoyed a girlie weekend break at the Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa, in Somerset, UK. We stayed in an Axbridge Lodge which was very spacious, nicely decorated and had modern features. We had three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin which all had plenty of wardrobe space and TV's. One double also benefitted from having an en suite with walk in shower. There was a separate bathroom with bath and overhead shower, wc and washbasins. The kitchen, lounge and dining areas were all open plan with a fully fitted modern kitchen that had everything you could need, dining table and three good size sofas, TV and ample additional storage space. The Lodge is surrounded by decking and we had fantastic far reaching views, situated in an elevated position on the resort, through a second set of security gates. The public areas of the resort had reception area, indoor pool, spa, bar area and restaurant. There were also a couple of bowling alleys and a children’s small soft play area. I understand that there are also some outdoor activity areas, but we did not use them. The resort is in an ideal position to enjoy the village of Cheddar and close to the gorge, we used it as a base to visit the Bath Christmas market which was only a 50 mins drive and much quieter than staying in the centre of Bath. We ate in the resort’s restaurant the first night, where the food was reasonable and had a good choice. The second night after we had been to Bath, we ate at the Bath Arms Hotel which is situated in Cheddar Village which offered a nice cosy bar area and dining room. A good choice of food and nicely decorated for Christmas. The Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa is ideal for any time of year for any type of break, with or without children, as a base or just to chill.
