Seville or Sevilla, as the locals say, has been on my wish list for a while so we decided to book a 4 nights stay in June.
This perhaps wasn't the best time of year as it was very hot, the "frying pan of Spain" was also experiencing a heat wave with tempratures of 40c. Not ideal for a sightseeing trip but we did our best.
We stayed in a lovely Hotel called Posada del Lucero, in a really good position near the "mushroom" or Setas de Sevilla, as it is officially known.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming and it was a quiet, cool sanctuary after a days sightseeing + it smelt wonderful!
Our room was spacious and on the first floor overlooking the street, but as the hotel seems to have two levels of glass, not noisy at all.
The rooms are nicely decorated and looked fresh and modern with good amentities.
Breakfast was served in a lovely area near the inner courtyard which had plenty of options to suit all tastes. The rooftop terace had a small plunge pool and area for sunbeds, where we enjoyed a couple of hours one morning and a welcome dip. This area was also nice later in the evening for a cheeky G& T!
Sevilla is easy to get around with all of the attractions walkable from our hotel. We pre booked a tour of the Catedral de Sevilla & Royal Alcazar + a little one hour river trip which gave a alternative view of the City. We also took the train to Cordoba which was around 50 minutes from Sevilla and had a wonder around and visited their Cathedral which was very different to the one in Sevilla, so well worth a look too. The double decker train back the same day was a nice experience too. Train fares are reasonable if you book in advance and leave on time and have a/c!
Sevilla has lots of open spaces and parks, too many squares to mention and also good shopping options too!
Eating out offers Tapas restaurants and lots of other options to suit all needs.
Overall a great City, but I would suggest visiting in Spring, Autumn or Winter!
