From the moment I checked in with Virgin Atlantic, the holiday began. Service with a smile, seamless comfort, and a touch of that unmistakable Virgin flair—there’s nothing quite like arriving at Miami International knowing you’re about to dive into something special.

Art Deco Dreams: Staying at Pestana South Beach

Our base for three nights was the stylish Pestana South Beach. This boutique gem places you right at the heart of Miami’s Art Deco district. I was genuinely wowed by the kaleidoscope of perfectly preserved 1930s buildings and bright neon lights—if you’ve watched a single Miami-based film or TV show (Miami Vice, anyone?), this is where it lives and breathes!

What struck me most was just how clean the city felt—Miami takes real pride in its streets and especially its world-famous beach. Even in December, the sand was warm, the Atlantic invitingly swimmable, and the crowds blissfully manageable. Perfect for recharging by the sea or that morning stroll.

Foodie Adventures & Star Spotting

To truly taste Miami, we joined a foodie tour in Little Havana. Think: rich Cuban coffee, fried plantains, colourful street art, and the infectious rhythms of salsa music everywhere. The city is dazzlingly multicultural, and Little Havana’s warmth (from both the sun and locals) is unforgettable.

For a touch of celebrity sparkle, we hopped on a boat trip to cruise past the stunning homes of the stars. There’s something magical about gazing over the water at jaw-dropping mansions—Miami really is the playground of the rich and famous.

Caribbean Cruising: NCL Encore

From city brights to island delights, we boarded the Norwegian Encore for a Caribbean cruise and I was blown away. Having experienced a few cruise lines, I can hand-on-heart say that Encore stands out for families. The kids’ clubs, pools, entertainment, and activities are genuinely next-level—it sets a new standard.  The water slides, the 2 tier Go Kart track and Escape room were even a hit with the adults!

Slice of Paradise: Grand Cayman, Harvest Caye & Roatán

• Grand Cayman: Imagine sugar-soft sand and water so clear it glows. This stop is your tropical dream—perfect for families or couples craving beach time and natural beauty.
• Harvest Caye, Belize: A true slice of the Caribbean, lined with palm trees, laid-back vibes, and gentle adventure.
• Roatán, Honduras: We tried ATV driving here—what a blast! Racing through lush jungle and catching glimpses of turquoise seas, this was one for the thrill seekers (and trust me, the laughs were unforgettable).
