New York, New York: The City That Never Fails to Amaze

Having visited New York twice, I’m convinced it’s one of the most electrifying cities on Earth. From towering skyscrapers to bustling streets, the Big Apple truly lives up to its cinematic reputation.

My first visit was back in 1995. I spent those first two days walking around, neck craned, staring up at the skyline—like I was starring in my own movie. Back then, the iconic Twin Towers still stood tall, forever part of the city’s silhouette. When I returned in 2007, the skyline had changed, but the “wow” factor was just as strong.

On my recent trip, I kicked things off with a Red Bus tour—a perfect way to get a taste of the city and hop on and off at my leisure. South Street Seaport quickly became a favourite spot, buzzing with energy, cool shops, and eateries overlooking the majestic Brooklyn Bridge. From there, the semi-circle line boat tour offered a peaceful, photo-perfect view of Manhattan’s skyline and the Statue of Liberty—without the usual ferry crowds.

Shopping? Oh yes, New York does not disappoint. From discount outlets to world-famous boutiques, my suitcase wasn’t quite big enough to hold all the treasures I found. Pro tip: bring an empty bag to fill up on your way back!

For sky-high views, I hit up “The Top of the Rock” and the Empire State Building—both offering stellar panoramas and a chance to feel like you’re touching the stars.

And of course, no visit is complete without a stroll through Central Park—a green oasis in the urban jungle, full of surprises and moments to just pause and breathe.

Whether you’re into helicopter tours, movie-set excursions, or just soaking in the city’s endless energy, New York has something for everyone.

Can’t wait for my next trip—because once you’ve tasted the city, you just want more!
