Mallorca: Sun kissed days in C’an Pastilla & culture rich moments in Palma!
I have been to Mallorca many times and have stayed in various parts of the island. For this holiday we wanted the short flight and a shorter transfer so we picked the resort of C’an Pastilla. It was literally a 10 minute (private) transfer from the airport so would be perfect for a main holiday or just a few nights away! On the sweeping Bay of Palma, C’an Pastilla is one of the most convenient and easy going spots on the island: a laid back resort with a long sandy beach, palm lined promenade and excellent access into the capital, Palma. It is a brilliant choice if you want simple seaside pleasures with the option of dipping into a sophisticated city whenever the mood takes you. In C’an Pastilla, days naturally fall into a slower pace: beach, lunch, a gentle stroll, then sundowners by the water. Yet in under half an hour you can be wandering beneath Gothic spires, browsing boutiques or lingering over tapas in Palma’s old town. It is this combination of effortless beach time and city flavour that makes C’an Pastilla such a perfect base for a Mallorca beach and city escape.
Why choose C’an Pastilla?: C’an Pastilla sits at one end of the long Playa de Palma, a broad, sandy beach that shelves gently into clear, shallow water. We stayed at the 3* Hotel Ilusion Calma & Spa, just a 5
minutes walk to the main resort and beach, on all inclusive basis. It was
excellent for a 3* hotel. It felt quite a small hotel with bright, modern
rooms, a nice little pool area, entertainment during the day and at night
including flamenco shows and love music, lovely sitting areas and really lovely
food! The all inclusive included breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main
restaurant aswell as snacks in the afternoon and an inside and outside bar area
with a fabulous selection of drinks and cocktails. This hotel also has an
indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna. 
I do like to look at other hotels whenever I go somewhere and if I do return to this area I would either stay at this same hotel again or I would try the adults only 5* The Iberostar Waves Bahia de Palma, right on the beachfront. It looked gorgeous and has an infinity pool on the rooftop and a waterside cocktail bar!
We saw this hotel during one of our many walks (and one ride) from resort to resort a few times, stopping at beach bars along the way!
Spend a day in nearby Palma: Mallorca’s atmospheric capital: One of C’an Pastilla’s greatest strengths is how easy it is to reach Palma. Whether by local bus, taxi or even bike for the energetic, you can swap the beach for culture and city life in very little time. Once in Palma, you step into a city that feels at once historic and contemporary. Visit the La Seu Cathedral rising above the waterfront with its stained glass windows, walk the old town’s narrow lanes lead into shady courtyards, elegant plazas and independent boutiques or shop at Mercat de l’Olivar and other local markets showcase island life, with stalls piled high with fruit, seafood and local delicacies. After sightseeing, you can simply sit at a pavement café with a glass of chilled local wine, watch life drift by and feel the contrast with the quieter pace of the resort.
Who is C’an Pastilla perfect for?: C’an Pastilla, with Palma close by, is a great match for: couples who want stress‑free beach time but enjoy a dose of culture, dining and shopping, families looking for an easy resort with a long, shallow beach and the option of a family‑friendly city day out or short‑break travellers who value quick transfers, a gentle seaside setting and the chance to explore without hiring a car.
Mallorca’s mix of sunshine, sea and Spanish character is a classic for a reason, and this corner of the island makes it especially simple. Clients can enjoy the best of both worlds: barefoot walks on the sand in C’an Pastilla, and cathedral spires and cobbled streets in Palma, all in one effortless escape.
