Free Airport Lounge Passes!
Did I get your attention? Of course I did! Keep reading.
The airport is generally a place full of anticipation. It’s the prelude to the adventure ahead BUT, it can also be stressful.
You’ve made the baggage weight limit by wearing 7 layers, drank a litre of bottled water as you entered security, bought an adapter plug from Boots (again!), only to find that somewhere to sit is like finding a Derbion car parking space the weekend before Christmas. Not exactly the start to your trip you were hoping for, right?
My job is to try and enhance the airport experience as much as possible for my clients. I like to bring them back to the days when being at the airport was a big part of the holiday excitement.
Unless you're going to the airport by taxi or train, then planning is a must. Car parking companies are now doing their level best to make drop off and pickups so much easier. It’s worth paying a bit more for a ‘meet and greet’ service, if only to avoid having to catch a shuttle from some far-flung field a few miles from departures. For those needing to fly from London airports then an overnight stay, to keep you stress free, is also highly recommended too.
But let’s get back to finding those seats. Actually, let’s not even bother, because the best way to travel stress free is to use a private lounge. You’ll be hard pressed to find an airport these days that doesn’t provide at least one option and in the bigger hubs you’ll find a choice that offers differing levels of service. East Midlands has just the one lounge, but it includes 3 hours of access before your flight, freshly prepared food, complimentary wine, beer & spirits and unlimited tea, coffee and soft drinks...and yes, somewhere comfortable to sit.
You may feel it’s an unnecessary expense on top of an already expensive holiday, but it might not be a false economy. We often set ourselves a budget for our trips but once we’re at the airport it can easily go out of the window. We’ll often head to a restaurant to get a seat and then the wallet really starts to open. Before we know it, we’ve spent as much, if not more, than if we’d given ourselves the luxury of a more private setting. You should give it a try.
So, how do I get in free?
