A Magical Family Break at Disneyland Paris

We stayed off-site at the Staycity Aparthotels near Disneyland Paris, which gave us the convenience of an apartment and made a good-value base for our visit. We spent one full day in each of the two parks: Disneyland Park, home to the iconic castle and many of the classic attractions, and the newly transformed Disney Adventure World, where you’ll find exciting areas dedicated to Marvel and Frozen.

As we travelled over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the parks were understandably busy. We made good use of Disney Premier Access on some of the attractions with the longest queues. This allowed us to skip much of the waiting and helped us fit far more into our two park days.

One of the highlights for my daughters was breakfast at The Regal View Restaurant, where they met several Disney Princesses. My wife also enjoyed the Frozen-themed champagne served in a beautiful souvenir flute – a little bit of grown-up Disney magic!

Naturally, we had to sample plenty of the different snacks available throughout the parks. There was lots of debate over the favourite, but my daughters eventually awarded the prize to the Mickey-shaped beignets: soft doughnuts filled with chocolate and almost too good to share.

We enjoyed exploring the newer areas and attractions, including the Star Wars experiences, Avengers Campus and the wonderful new World of Frozen. However, my personal favourite will probably always be Star Tours. The simulator may feel a little old-school compared with some of Disney’s latest technology, but it is still an amazing ride and one I never tire of.

This was one of many Disney visits I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy over the years. I’ve experienced the Disney parks in France, Florida and California, so I know just how much planning can go into getting one of these holidays right. Choosing where to stay, deciding how many park days you need, booking restaurants and character dining, and knowing when extras such as Premier Access are worthwhile can make a real difference.

Disneyland Paris can be magical for children, teenagers and adults alike – and you certainly don’t have to be staying in a Disney hotel to have a fantastic experience.
