South Africa - Safari and City Break
A brilliant 2 week itinerary in South Africa for family - safari and city break, with stunning weather, amazing wildlife and so much fabulous food.
October half term, but make it extra - two weeks in South Africa with teens 🙌
Overnight flight to Jo’burg (shockingly painless), hire car collected, three-hour drive done… and suddenly we’re on safari with teenagers who forgot their phones existed. 🦁😮
Three nights in Pilanesberg luxury: two game drives a day - Lions posing, elephants blocking the road like they own it, giraffes serving looks 🦒, hippos lurking 🦛, hyena cackling, cheetahs murdering 🐆, baboons causing drama 🐒, plus jackals, warthogs 🐗 and impala 🦌 bouncing about like it’s a trampoline park. Basically the wildlife jackpot — with proper beds and excellent coffee.
Then ✈️ Cape Town and straight into Franschhoek. Wine tram days, outrageously good food (La Petite Ferme! ) vineyards for days and so much wine 🍷 (parents thriving, teens judging).
Coastal magic followed: Pringle Bay, Hermanus whales 🐳 and dolphins 🐬 penguins 🐧 at Betty’s Bay, Cape Town deep-dives and big-ticket views — Chapman’s Peak 🛣️ Robben Island 🏛️Table Mountain ⛰️ Kirstenbosch 🌺 Clifton Beach 🏖️ Camps Bay, township tour, Langebaan for a rustic seafood feast, oh and plenty of shopping at the V&A Waterfront for the teen princess 👸
Two weeks. One October half term. Teenagers survived. Memories secured.
