A Personal Experience: "Why Would I Book Through You?"
Over the weekend, I was chatting with a potential client who asked me a question that many travel agents hear on a regular basis: "Why would I book through you when I can just book it myself online?" It's a fair question. After all, we live in a world where flights, hotels and package holidays can be booked in just a few clicks. At first glance, it can seem like using a personal travel agent is an unnecessary extra step. My response was simple:

It's a fair question.
After all, we live in a world where flights, hotels and package holidays can be booked in just a few clicks. At first glance, it can seem like using a personal travel agent is an unnecessary extra step.
My response was simple:
"You're not paying me to click a button. You're paying for expertise, support and peace of mind."
Of course, I can help find the right destination, source great value and put together an itinerary that suits your needs. But the real value of using a personal travel agent goes far beyond the initial booking.
When you book through me, I become your dedicated point of contact throughout your journey. That means helping with the details that can often be overlooked when booking online yourself. From checking you in for your flights where possible, ensuring you have all the necessary travel documents and information, advising on passport and visa requirements, arranging transfers, airport parking or lounges, and being on hand should plans suddenly change.
It's the little things that make a difference.
I love adding personal touches wherever I can, whether that's helping to arrange a surprise for a special occasion, making recommendations based on my clients' interests, or simply checking in before departure to make sure everything is in place and ready to go.
A booking website can't do that.
A website doesn't get excited about your honeymoon, your once-in-a-lifetime family holiday, or that important business trip. It doesn't know that you're celebrating a milestone birthday or travelling for a special occasion. Most importantly, it won't be there to support you if something goes wrong.
The client I spoke to over the weekend eventually said something that really stuck with me. They realised that whilst they could book online themselves, what they couldn't get online was the reassurance of having a real person looking after their trip from start to finish.
And that's exactly what a personal travel agent provides.
In a world where so much is automated, personal service has become more valuable than ever. Anyone can book travel online. What online booking sites can't provide is a real person who is invested in your journey from the moment you enquire until you're safely back home.
