P&O Arvia Family Day Ship Visit
Usually when I attend a ship visit, it's a full day of touring cabins, restaurants, lounges and entertainment venues while taking as many photos as possible.
This visit was a little different though - it was a Kids Takeover Day and I was able to bring my family along, which was especially lovely as it fell on Father's Day and the weather was absolutely glorious.
Having sailed on Arvia to the Norwegian Fjords in April, we already knew the ship really well, so instead of rushing around we could simply relax and enjoy everything on offer on board. In fact, we spent the entire day out on deck and didn't venture inside to the cabins, atrium or entertainment decks at all!
The children had a brilliant time swimming in the infinity pools at the aft of the ship and in the main pool within the SkyDome. With the retractable roof open and the sunshine pouring in, it was a beautiful place to spend the day.
We also made the most of the deck activities, including giant chess, curling, mini golf, quoits, bean bag toss and the golf nets. The high ropes course was open too, although one of my children was just under the 1.4m minimum height requirement, so we watched from below as others bravely tackled the course high above the deck.
My children were thoroughly spoilt with teddy bears and P&O water bottles on arrival, while we all received drinks and ice cream vouchers to keep cool throughout the day.
For lunch, we ate in the buffet, which was good to try as we would usually choose The Quays, Taste 360 or one of the main dining rooms when cruising as a family. We particularly enjoyed the Asian foods on offer.
To finish the day, we enjoyed a matinee performance of Sky's the Limit in the theatre. We've seen it several times before and it's one of our family's favourites, alongside Digital. The production is incredibly impressive, with fantastic special effects and even an aeroplane on stage!
The day reminded me exactly why we love cruising as a family with P&O Cruises. There is genuinely so much to do on board, whether you're travelling with babies, younger children, teenagers or grandparents.
I regularly arrange family cruises on both Arvia and her sister ship Iona for clients, and I'm always happy to answer questions and share my experiences to help you decide whether a P&O cruise is right for your family.
If a family cruise is on your wish list, I'd love to help you plan it.
