Thinking about booking Disneyland Paris?
I'm receiving more enquiries than ever and there's one piece of advice I give every family who asks.
For most families, the mid-range on-site Disney hotels tend to offer the best overall balance of convenience, time in the parks and overall experience, especially on short breaks.
Could you stay off-site? Absolutely. For some families it works really well, particularly if budget or space is the priority or for a longer stay. It just depends what you want from your trip.
Once you factor in things like shuttle journeys, waiting around at busy times, the extra planning around getting to and from the parks, missing the Extra Magic Time you enjoy when staying on-site, and the natural temptation to not return to the parks in the evening when everyone is tired, what initially looks like a saving can sometimes feel less straightforward once you're there.
When you have excited children who want to make the most of every minute, being within walking distance of the parks can make a big difference to how relaxed the trip feels.
If you're looking for an extra touch of comfort, upgrading to a Club Room in selected Disney hotels can also make a difference. These typically include benefits such as a dedicated check-in area, access to a private lounge and additional food and drink offerings in a more relaxed setting, depending on the hotel. It’s a nice option for families who like a bit more ease built into their stay or appreciate having a quieter space to return to.
Another tip I often share is considering a Half Board or Full Board dining plan when you book.
It does increase the upfront cost of your holiday, but many families find it helpful for budgeting, particularly as food and drink costs inside the parks can add up quickly over the course of a stay. If you're planning to eat mostly on-site anyway, which many families do, it can provide a clear structure and remove a lot of day-to-day spending decisions.
It also means you can plan your restaurants in advance, know that a significant portion of your meals are already taken care of, and simply enjoy the experience without constantly weighing up menus and prices.
All of these choices can sometimes feel like unnecessary upgrades, but in reality they are often more about planning ahead and choosing the version of the trip that best suits your family. Very often, the real extra cost comes when the lowest upfront option is chosen, and then additional spending builds during the trip on transport, food or changes to plans that aren't quite working as hoped. Getting the right setup from the start usually leads to a smoother, more enjoyable experience with fewer surprises.
When you do want to take things to the next level, or you're celebrating something special, the Disneyland Hotel is the most iconic choice, while Disney Hotel New York - The Art of Marvel is a fantastic premium option with a very different feel. I can also arrange private transfers, character dining and plenty of other magical extras.
A little planning before you travel can make a huge difference to both your budget and your holiday.
If you're thinking about Disneyland Paris, I'd love to help you plan it.
