Why Use a Travel Planner in 2026? My Honest Answer

The honest answer is: you don’t need one for every trip.

If you’re booking a straightforward flight and a hotel you already know and love, booking it yourself can be perfectly easy.

But when a trip is more expensive, more complicated or simply more important to you, having a travel planner in your corner can make a real difference.

For me, it's not about simply booking a holiday.

It's about helping you make better travel decisions.

Booking a holiday is easy. Planning the right holiday is different.

Booking websites are very good at giving you options.

But more choice doesn't necessarily make the decision easier.

A hotel might have thousands of positive reviews, but is it actually right for you?

A villa might look incredible online but be an hour from everywhere you want to go.

A cheaper flight might save you £200 but leave you with an awkward connection that eats into the first day of your holiday.

These are the details that can be difficult to spot when you're booking everything yourself.

This is where I use my experience and judgement.

I'm not interested in recommending somewhere simply because it's popular or looks good on Instagram. I want to know what you're actually getting for your money and whether it's right for the experience you're looking for.

Sometimes I'll tell a client to spend more.

Sometimes I'll tell them to save their money.

And sometimes I'll tell them that the hotel they've fallen in love with isn't the one I'd choose for them.

I'd much rather be honest about that than recommend something simply because it's more expensive.

You don't have to make every decision yourself

This is one of the biggest reasons clients come to me.

They don't necessarily need someone to tell them where they should go. They need someone to take everything they want from a holiday and turn it into a trip that makes sense.

You might want:

• Somewhere luxurious but not overly formal
• A beautiful beach but plenty to do
• A honeymoon that feels special without wasting money
• A multi-destination trip without constantly packing and unpacking
• A private villa in the right location
• To fly business class, but only if the upgrade is actually worth it
• To stay within a particular budget without compromising on what matters most

You don't need to spend hours researching every possible option.

It's not about spending more. It's about spending better.

This is particularly important to me when planning luxury travel.

Luxury doesn't simply mean booking the most expensive hotel or upgrading everything possible.

Some of the best travel decisions are actually about not spending more.

Maybe the private pool villa isn't worth the extra £2,000.

Maybe upgrading to business class makes sense on one flight but not another.

Maybe spending more on the hotel will completely change your experience, while paying extra for a particular excursion won't.

There isn't one answer that works for everyone.

My job is to understand what will make the biggest difference to you.

That's why I don't want to build the most expensive itinerary possible.

I want to build the right itinerary.

What happens when something goes wrong?

This is where I think the value of having a travel planner really becomes clear.

When everything goes smoothly, you might not think much about who booked your holiday.

But when your flight is cancelled, your connection is missed, your hotel has a problem or a supplier changes part of your itinerary, having someone who already knows your trip feels very different.

When you book through me, I already know the details of your trip – where you're staying, which flights you're taking, what other arrangements are connected to your booking and what you've told me is important to you.

So if something goes wrong, you're not starting from scratch with a generic booking reference and a customer service queue.

You have someone who already knows your holiday.

Of course, I can't control the weather, airlines, strikes, airport disruption or events happening around the world.

But I can help you navigate what happens next.

And sometimes, that's the part of the service you value most.

When do I think using a travel planner is worthwhile?

There are certain trips where I think having someone like me involved makes particularly good sense.

Honeymoons

You've probably spent months planning your wedding.

Your honeymoon should be something you look forward to – not another project to manage.

I'll help you work through the destinations, hotels, flights and experiences to create something that feels genuinely special.

Luxury holidays

When you're spending more, getting the details right matters more.

The most expensive hotel isn't automatically the best hotel, and five stars don't always equal luxury.

I'll help you work out where your money is genuinely adding value – and where it isn't.

Multi-destination trips

The more components you add, the more opportunity there is for something not to work.

Flights, transfers, hotels and experiences all need to connect properly.

I'll look at the itinerary as a whole rather than treating each booking as a separate transaction.

Do you actually need a travel planner?

I'm very honest about this.

If you're booking a simple city break, a familiar hotel or a flight to see friends, you may genuinely be better off booking it yourself.

And I'd rather tell you that than convince you otherwise.

So, why use a travel planner in 2026?

Because having more ways to book a holiday yourself doesn't necessarily mean it's easier to make the right decisions.

For me, travel planning is about much more than finding flights and hotels.

It's about using experience, research and judgement to help you make better choices.

It's about knowing when to spend and when to save.

It's about creating an itinerary that works as a whole.

And it's about having someone in your corner if things don't go according to plan.

I want to understand what you want from it, work out where your money is best spent and take the decisions off your hands wherever you'd like me to.

Because premium travel isn't necessarily about spending the most.

It's about getting the things that matter most to you right.
