How does it work to book with me?
In short: it works in the way that suits you best. Some people come to me with everything decided. Others arrive with nothing more than a feeling of the kind of trip they want. Wherever you are on that spectrum, I am here to make it easier, smoother and more enjoyable.
1. You know exactly what you want
If you already know the details of your trip (think: destination, dates, flight times, hotel and room type), you can think of me as the human version of a holiday booking website, with some very important extras.
I will:
- Source and secure your chosen arrangements
- Double‑check all the details for accuracy
- Take care of all the admin, payments and paperwork
- Be in your corner if anything needs sorting before or during travel
You get the convenience of booking online, but with a real person behind it who knows you, cares about your trip and is here if something does not go to plan.
2. You have an idea and a budget, but want expert help
If you have a rough idea of where you would like to go, or a clear set of criteria to work with, simply tell me your wish‑list and budget and I will do the legwork.
I will:
- Narrow down the options and create tailored recommendations
- Use trusted insight, not just online reviews, to guide suggestions
- Draw on the expertise of the wider Travel Counsellors community, where we constantly share first‑hand advice and recommendations
- Handle all the booking admin and support you if you ever need help
You save hours of searching, avoid decision fatigue and end up with a trip that genuinely fits you, rather than a “best guess” from a search engine.
3. You are starting from a blank sheet
If you are not sure where to go, only when you can travel or what kind of experience you want, I can help you shape that from scratch.
Together we can look at:
- Where is best to travel at certain times of year
- Destinations
that match the type of holiday you are dreaming of
(for example: family‑friendly beach, adults‑only luxury, cultural city break, epic road trip or once‑in‑a‑lifetime adventure) - How to match your ideas with your budget and the time you have available
From there, I will design options for you to consider, refine them with your feedback and then look after the booking and travel arrangements once you are happy.
How do I get paid?
There is no consultation fee to work with me, so there is no risk in getting in touch and seeing what I can do for you.
I am paid by commission on your booking. In many cases, this commission is effectively built into the prices we can access. For example:
- Our commercial team negotiates excellent rates and exclusive offers that are not typically available directly to the public.
- Many suppliers see Travel Counsellors as a valuable partner, so they offer us prices that are comparable to what you would find yourself, but with my commission included. Cruise is a great example: very often it is the same price to book a cruise yourself as it is to book it through me (and sometimes it is even cheaper through me).
The difference is that with me, you also have a dedicated person in your corner from the moment we start planning until you return home.
When I send you a quote, you will always see the total cost. That way you can compare like‑for‑like and make the decision that feels right for you. If you choose to book with a different supplier, there are genuinely no hard feelings. But if you do decide to go ahead, I would be delighted to be the person by your side throughout the journey.
