Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro Tanzania
A lifetime bucket list trip to Tanzania
When one of my very lovely regular clients contacted me late last year to help them organise this once in a lifetime experience to mark a 50th birthday, I was extremely privileged and very excited to get started with the plans.
Four of the family were heading out first to climb Kilimanjaro, with five remaining family members flying out 7 days later to reconvene before heading off all together on their Serengeti Safari.
Ensuring everything went perfectly required a ton of coordination! Logistics were tight, so I had to make sure the family climbers arrived in Tanzania fully prepped and ready. This meant finding the best flight routes, factoring in potential delays, and picking schedules that allowed for maximum rest before day one of the climb (this involved an overnight stop in Amsterdam on the way out). I also teamed up with local climb experts in Tanzania who I selected to guide and take care of my group on their climb to the top! They helped with fine tuning dietary needs and evaluating different routes up Kilimanjaro. We suggested the best fit for the group to give them the absolute best shot at reaching the summit—especially since altitude sickness alone can quickly change your plans at those heights!
On their day of departure I was tracking my clients flights like a hawk and was very relieved when I saw their flight touch down on time at Kilimanjaro Airport. The rest is over to them … what an amazing adventure and achievement. Their pictures tell the rest of their story!
