I think I always knew I would fall in love with Africa , until I got there I didn't realise how much , and what a lasting mark it would have on my life.
Africa is waiting ... East Africa was my first safari experience . Some things I would recommend :
A short stay in Nairobi is a great introduction to Africa, and a gentle approach to wildlife before experiences them in the wild. Some exciting projects in the city will give you a real insight into the care and effort that goes into keeping the animals safe and well looked after in the wild. Ask me about how you can make the most of your stay there.
Heading into the Mara and surrounding yourself in nature is about the best 'get away from it all' experience you will have. There are so many levels of accomodation on offer from large enclosed camps to ungated camps where you can hear the elephants pass your tent in the night.
For some a 3 night safari is enough, but if you have time whilst in East Africa to add on a stay in Tanzania after the Mara , then getting up close and personal with the hippos in Ngorongoro crater is a fabulous experience.
Zanzibar with its beautiful white beaches , amazing sunsets and glorious beachfront hotels is the perfect stop to get some sun sea and sand vibes to finish off your trip.
