Sailing in Style: My 7‑Night Istanbul to Athens Cruise on Oceania Allura

The cruise was scheduled to visit Bozcaada, Lesbos, Izmir, Chios, Kos and Santorini, before finishing in Athens. But as anyone who travels regularly knows, the weather sometimes has its own plans.

And throughout all of this, the constant that stood out was the crew and service. Warm, polished and genuinely attentive, they helped to create that intimate, luxury‑hotel feel where you are recognised and remembered, not just processed.

When things do not go to plan: why luxury matters

The missed ports and itinerary changes caused by rough seas and storms could have overshadowed the trip. Instead, they reminded me why the choice of cruise line matters so much.
