Few destinations blend powerful history, iconic cities and jaw-dropping landscapes quite like the United States. From the cobbled streets where a new nation was born in 1776 to neon-lit deserts, snow-dusted mountains and the magic of Disney, the USA truly has a trip for everyone: families, couples, special celebrations and the most dedicated adventure seekers.

Where America was born: A brief journey through history

The Declaration that changed everything

On 4 July 1776 representatives of the 13 American colonies met in Philadelphia Second Continental Congress. Here, they adopted the Declaration of Independence, a document that would change the course of history. Key figures like Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams all wrote that it was signed by Congress that day, with 12 of the 13 colonies voting in favour and New York abstaining.

With that decision, the colonies severed their political ties with Great Britain and United States of America was born.

Walking through history in Boston and Philadelphia

For history lovers, the USA offers a living classroom:

 Boston: Follow  Freedom Trail  a walking route that links historic churches, meeting houses and sites central to the American Revolution. Stand where protests, debates and pivotal decisions set the stage for independence.

Philadelphia:  Visit Independence Hall, where the Declaration was debated and adopted, and Liberty Bell, an enduring symbol of freedom. The city’s cobbled streets, red-brick buildings and museums bring the 18th century vividly to life.

These are not just places to tick off a list. They are immersive experiences that let you step back in time and feel the weight of history all around you.

The Deep South: From slavery to civil rights and the soundtrack of the USA

The Deep South offers some of the most moving and meaningful travel experiences in America.

Stories of struggle and change

In cities across states like Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, you can explore:

Former plantations and cotton fields that tell the story of slavery and the economic foundations of the South.

Museums and memorials dedicated to the Civil Rights Movement including sites linked to Dr Martin Luther King Jr. and other key figures who fought for change.

 

This is powerful, sometimes challenging travel, but incredibly important for understanding the journey from oppression to progress.

Alongside this history, the South is the birthplace of some of the world’s most influential music:

Memphis: Home of the Blues and Elvis Presley, with studios and museums where rock ‘n’ roll history was made.

Nashville: A dream destination for music lovers, packed with live venues, legendary recording studios and a buzzing nightlife that runs on guitar riffs and songwriting stories.

New Orleans: Jazz floats out of every doorway, blending with Creole cuisine, riverfront views and a unique cultural mix.

A Southern itinerary can be a rich mosaic of history, food and music, ideal for couples, culture-seekers and anyone who wants their holiday soundtrack to be truly unforgettable.

Iconic Cities: Skylines, culture and big -city buzz

The USA’s great cities all have their own distinct personality, and a multi-centre city break can be a wonderful way to see a completely different side of America in a single trip.

New York City: Soaring skyscrapers, Broadway shows, world-class museums and instantly recognisable landmarks: the city that never sleeps! including icons we all know, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and Times Square. Perfect for first-time visitors, couples and friends’ getaways.
