Finding The Perfect Balance in Ibiza: Sunsets, Soul and a Splash of Nightlife

Heather Bissix on 28 May 2026

I have recently returned from Ibiza and it made me realise something: I have been visiting the island for almost 10 years now and every single trip has been slightly different. Yes, Ibiza has a big party scene and it draws thousands of people to the island each year. I have absolutely leant into that side of it over the years, dancing the nights away and seeing some of my favourite DJs, from Calvin Harris to David Guetta. But Ibiza is so much more than that...

Ibiza: An Island for Almost Everyone

One of the things I love most about Ibiza is how versatile it is. It is a great holiday destination for almost anyone: couples, groups of friends, party lovers, chilled beach seekers and even families, as long as you choose the right part of the island for the kind of trip you want. If you want buzzing beach clubs and late nights, there are areas that are perfect for that. If you prefer quiet coves, relaxed restaurants and early nights, there are plenty of spots that feel a world away from the clubs. Getting that match right makes all the difference and is one of the reasons I enjoy tailoring Ibiza trips so much.

Where to Stay: Hotels, Villas and Freedom to Explore

Across the island you will find a wide range of hotels and villas, from stylish boutique properties to simple apartments and beautiful private homes. What I have found over the years is that most options tend to be self catering or bed & breakfast. That actually works brilliantly in Ibiza, because there are so many amazing places to eat and drink scattered around the island. Rather than being tied to one restaurant every night, you have the freedom to wander, discover little tapas bars, linger over long dinners by the sea or dip into the livelier spots when the mood takes you. For me, that flexibility is part of Ibiza’s charm. Each trip I have stayed somewhere slightly different, and each time it has given me a fresh perspective on the island.

What Keeps Drawing Me Back?

So, after several visits over a decade, what is it that keeps pulling me back to Ibiza?

The Ibizan Sunsets, there is nothing quite like an Ibizan sunset, and watching it from Café Mambo is my idea of perfection. Perched on the rocks with the music building, cocktail in hand and the sun slowly melting into the sea, the whole place pauses for those final golden moments. It is one of my favourite spots on the island and a ritual I try to repeat every time I go back.

Dancing the night away, I will never get tired of the energy in Ibiza’s clubs, but Ushuaïa has completely stolen my heart. Dancing under the open sky, surrounded by the iconic tower, world-class production and a sea of people all there for the same reason feels electric. Hearing some of my favourite DJs play there, from Calvin Harris to David Guetta, is the kind of experience that stays with you long after the music stops.

The Turquoise Sea, the sea around Ibiza is a showstopper: crystal clear, shimmering and impossibly inviting. For me, a trip over to Formentera is an absolute must, whether you choose to arrive by private boat or hop on the ferry. Once you are there you can swim in the turquoise shallows, cycle around the island to discover hidden stretches of sand or lean into the laid-back party vibe with lunch at Beso Beach. The water gives the Maldives a run for its money.

Making memories with friends, some of my favourite travel memories have been made on this island. Shared sunsets, stories from nights out, lazy days by the pool, impromptu adventures that start with “shall we just…”. Ibiza has a way of bringing people together and creating stories you talk about for years.

Friends in Ibiza

The Ibiza Trips I Can Help You Plan

Because I have experienced Ibiza in so many different ways over the last decade, I know how much the style of trip can change the feel of the island. I can help you plan:

Groups of friends From long weekends packed with beach clubs and big nights out to more balanced escapes with boat days, sunset rituals and lazy pool time, I can suggest the best areas, hotels and villas to suit your vibe and budget.

Retreats and slower stays If you are craving something calmer, Ibiza is perfect for wellness retreats, yoga-focused getaways and restorative breaks. I can help you find peaceful bases, beautiful hideaways and experiences that prioritise rest, good food and connection.

Family holidays Ibiza can work brilliantly for families when you choose the right location. Think shallow, sheltered beaches, relaxed restaurants, family-friendly hotels and plenty of activities for all ages without being in the middle of the party scene.

Everything in between Maybe you want a bit of nightlife without it taking over the whole trip, or a romantic escape that mixes chic beach clubs with quiet coves and great dining. Whatever your version of Ibiza looks like, I can shape an itinerary around you.

I am also on hand to help with restaurant recommendations and reservations across the island, from buzzy sunset spots to hidden gems inland. It means you can arrive with a plan, avoid the stress of trying to book the hottest tables yourself and simply relax into your time on the White Isle.

It's More Than Just a Party Island

After so many visits, what I know for sure is that Ibiza is not just “for the party crowd”. It can be high-energy or completely chilled, glamorous or low-key, depending on how you choose to experience it. For my own trips, changing where I stay, how I structure my days and which corners of the island I explore has meant that every visit has felt new. Yet the same things keep calling me back: those sunsets, that music, the friends by my side and that unreal, turquoise water. If you are curious about Ibiza, or if you have only ever seen its party side and would like to discover a different version of the island, I would love to help you plan a trip that matches exactly what you are looking for.
