Day Trip to Dubrovnik from Montenegro
Exploring Croatia from Montenegro in a day
If you're staying in Herceg Novi in Montenegro, a day trip to Dubrovnik in Croatia is well worth it, you can easily get there in just over an hour and also a great way to experience two beautiful Adriatic destinations in one holiday. On our journey we followed the coastline with rugged mountains and coastal villages along the way....you do have to take your passport as you go over a small border crossing which took us about 5-10mins, however, this could take longer dependent on the route.
On arrival in Dubrovnik we headed straight for the Old Town with it's impressive Pile Gate and you can wander along cobbled pavements and narrow lanes where historic churches and squares are all waiting to be explored, a walk along the City Walls is a must as this gives views across the rooftops & we also had lunch in a wonderful restaurant underneath the walls with incredible views across the Adriatic. In summer, it can be extremely busy due to a number of cruise ships that dock into Dubrovnik, however, you can always find a quiet spot for some local beer and food.
We would certainly return for a city break....although one day can only give you a flavour of Dubrovnik, it certainly was worth the journey, two countries, one coastline & a city full of history - what more could you ask for !!
