Fred Olsen Bolette

Ship Visit on Fred Olsen Bolette

Joanne Harrison on 27 May 2026

Stepping Aboard Fred. Olsen’s Bolette in Liverpool On Wednesday 27 May 2026, I had the pleasure of stepping on board Fred. Olsen’s beautiful Bolette while she was docked right here in Liverpool. As someone who loves to really feel what my clients will experience, being able to explore the ship in person was invaluable.

From the moment I walked up the gangway, Bolette felt welcoming and relaxed. She is a smaller ship by today’s standards, which gives her a more intimate, friendly atmosphere, yet inside she feels airy and modern.

The public areas are beautifully styled: elegant décor, calm colour palettes and plenty of natural light. Lounges and bars feel like sophisticated hotel spaces rather than large, impersonal venues, and there are plenty of quieter corners where you can sit with a drink and watch the world go by at sea.

We were greeted with pastries and a glass of fizz on arrival, a lovely touch that set the tone for the visit. After that, we enjoyed a guided tour that took in several cabin types and a selection of the public areas. It was great to see the different accommodation options first hand: thoughtfully designed, comfortable and very much in keeping with the ship’s modern yet classic style, and covers a wide range of budgets.

Lunch on board was a real highlight. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and showcased the quality you can expect on a Fred. Olsen sailing. It is always reassuring to taste the cuisine myself so I can confidently recommend it to my clients who value good food as part of their holiday.

One of Bolette’s biggest advantages for my clients is that she sails from Liverpool, right on our doorstep. Being able to join a cruise so close to home, without the need for long journeys or flights, is a real bonus for many travellers who want a more relaxed start and end to their holiday.

We disembarked in the afternoon, just as guests were beginning to arrive for their Norwegian Fjords cruise. Watching them come on board, excited for their adventure, was a lovely reminder of why I do what I do: helping people enjoy memorable, well-crafted travel experiences.

If you are curious about cruising, like the idea of a smaller, friendlier ship that still feels modern and stylish, and would love to sail from Liverpool, Bolette could be a fantastic option for you. I would be delighted to chat through itineraries, cabin choices and what life is really like on board, and to help you find the cruise that feels just right.
