Ibiza – The Island That Never Loses Its Magic

From legendary nightlife and breathtaking sunsets to family escapes and romantic getaways, discover why Ibiza is so much more than just a party island.

Lara Perkins on 19 Jun 2026

I've been lucky enough to visit Ibiza for the past three consecutive years, as well as making my very first trips when I was just 17 and 18 years old. So, it's fair to say I've watched the island evolve over the years – and if anything, Ibiza just keeps getting better. The clubs are bigger, the DJs are world-class, the food scene has exploded, and there's now something for every type of traveller.

Our latest visit was in June 2026, when five of us ladies, all in our 40s, headed back to the White Isle for another unforgettable girls' getaway. I'll admit, there was a tiny part of us wondering if we'd feel like everyone's mum amongst the younger crowds... but that couldn't have been further from the truth. Ibiza truly has no age limit. Whether you're 18 or 80, everyone is there for the same reason – to enjoy life, soak up the sunshine and make incredible memories.

Staying in Playa d'en Bossa

This year we stayed in Playa d'en Bossa, one of Ibiza's most popular resorts, and it couldn't have been a better location. Home to the island's longest beach, Bossa perfectly blends laid-back beach life with legendary nightlife.

Our hotel was fantastic, complete with two swimming pools and one of the best breakfast buffets I've ever experienced. Even better, we simply turned right out of the hotel and found ourselves right on the beachfront, surrounded by beach bars, restaurants, shops and everything we needed during the day.

Playa D'en Bossa Beach

As the sun sets, Playa d'en Bossa completely transforms. The famous strip comes alive with music, entertainment and people from all over the world.

Within walking distance you'll find two of the biggest names in Ibiza nightlife:

  • Ushuaïa Ibiza – famous for its spectacular outdoor daytime parties, incredible stage productions and performances from some of the world's biggest DJs including David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix and Armin van Buuren. Even if clubbing isn't usually your thing, the atmosphere here is unlike anywhere else.
  • Hï Ibiza – consistently voted one of the world's best nightclubs, Hï takes over once Ushuaïa closes, offering cutting-edge sound systems, immersive lighting and unforgettable sets from internationally renowned DJs until the early hours

Ushuia

Even if you're not planning on clubbing every night, simply soaking up the atmosphere around Playa d'en Bossa is an experience in itself.

An Evening in Ibiza Town

No trip to Ibiza is complete without spending an evening exploring Ibiza Town (Eivissa).

The beautiful marina comes alive after sunset with luxury yachts, designer boutiques, cocktail bars and waterfront restaurants serving everything from fresh seafood to traditional Spanish tapas.

Take a stroll through the charming cobbled streets of Dalt Vila, Ibiza's UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, where historic walls overlook the harbour below.

The evening markets offer handmade jewellery, artwork and local crafts, while talented street performers and musicians create an incredible atmosphere that continues late into the night. We enjoyed one of the best meals of the trip here, sitting by the marina watching the world go by.

Getting Around Ibiza

Travelling around Ibiza couldn't be easier.

One piece of advice I'd always give is to pre-book your airport transfers. The taxi queues at Ibiza Airport can be extremely long during the summer months, especially on weekends.

Once you're settled on the island:

  • Uber operates throughout Ibiza and is quick and reliable, although generally a little more expensive than standard taxis.
  • Taxi ranks are easy to find in busy areas including Playa d'en Bossa, Ibiza Town and San Antonio.
  • Car hire is also a great option if you want to discover some of Ibiza's quieter beaches and hidden coves.

San Antonio – The Island's Famous Sunset

One thing everyone should experience at least once is a sunset boat trip from San Antonio.

Sunset Boat Trip

Watching the sun slowly disappear into the Mediterranean while music plays in the background is something you'll never forget.

If you prefer to stay on land, Café Mambo is legendary. Arrive early, order a cocktail and enjoy live DJ sets as the sunset creates one of Ibiza's most magical moments.

Mambo

Several hotels along the coastline also offer beautiful rooftop bars, giving you panoramic views across the bay while enjoying dinner or drinks.

Beach Clubs Worth Visiting

Ibiza knows how to do beach clubs better than almost anywhere else.

Two of my favourites include:

O Beach Ibiza – San Antonio

O Beach is the ultimate daytime party venue, famous for its pool parties, acrobatic performers, dancers, live DJs and luxury day beds. Expect plenty of champagne, incredible entertainment and an electric atmosphere from afternoon until sunset.

O Beach

Blue Marlin Ibiza – Cala Jondal

If you're looking for something a little more sophisticated, Blue Marlin offers a luxurious beachfront experience with exceptional food, premium cocktails, international DJs and comfortable sun loungers overlooking the crystal-clear sea. It's the perfect place to relax before the evening begins.

Ibiza Isn't Just for Party Lovers

One of the biggest misconceptions about Ibiza is that it's only for clubbers.

The north of the island couldn't feel more different.

Here you'll find peaceful villages, pine forests, secluded beaches and a much slower pace of life, making it ideal for families.

Some fantastic family-friendly hotels include:

  • Grand Palladium White Island Resort
  • Invisa Hotel Club Cala Verde
  • Portinatx Beach Club Hotel
  • Club Cala Blanca

Families can enjoy:

  • Calm, shallow beaches
  • Snorkelling and paddleboarding
  • Boat excursions
  • Traditional local markets
  • Family-friendly restaurants
  • Beautiful walking trails
  • Water parks and nature experiences

For those wanting something extra special, renting a private villa overlooking the Mediterranean is an unforgettable way to experience Ibiza.

Romantic Ibiza

Ibiza is equally perfect for couples.

Take the short ferry across to the stunning island of Formentera, often described as the Caribbean of Europe thanks to its crystal-clear turquoise waters and white sandy beaches.

Hire a scooter or bicycle, enjoy a long beachfront lunch with fresh seafood and sangria, and spend the afternoon exploring hidden coves before returning to Ibiza.

If you're after something a little different, enjoy dinner at the iconic Pikes Ibiza. This legendary boutique hotel has hosted everyone from Freddie Mercury to George Michael and offers incredible food, cocktails and a wonderfully quirky atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed evening.

Food & Drink

Spanish cuisine is another reason I keep returning.

Fresh tapas, authentic paella, locally caught seafood, chilled sangria and beautiful wines are everywhere you look. Whether you're eating in a beachfront chiringuito, a marina restaurant or a hidden village square, the quality is exceptional.

Easy From the UK

One of the many reasons Ibiza remains such a popular holiday destination is how easy it is to reach.

With short flights from the UK and an efficient airport, we experienced very little waiting time through both security and border control, meaning we were enjoying sunshine, sangria and tapas within hours of leaving home.

Why I Keep Going Back

Every time I visit Ibiza I discover something new.

Whether you're planning a girls' holiday, a romantic escape, a family adventure, a luxury villa stay or the ultimate clubbing experience, Ibiza really does have something for everyone.

It's an island full of contrasts, where world-famous nightlife meets peaceful hidden beaches, luxury yachts sit alongside traditional fishing villages, and every sunset feels more magical than the last.

If Ibiza is on your travel wish list, I'd love to help you plan the perfect trip. Having visited the island many times over the years, I can help you choose the right area, hotel and experiences to make your holiday truly unforgettable.
