Why New York Will Always Have My Heart ❤️
New York City
There are some cities that stay with you forever, and for me, New York is definitely one of them.
I recently returned for four nights and five days with my husband, and it completely reignited the love I have always had for the city. Having previously worked as cabin crew for British Airways for 17 years, including five years flying long-haul, New York was a destination I visited every single month. With flights operating throughout the day, it quickly became somewhere that felt familiar, exciting and, in a strange way, a little like a second home.
Yet no matter how many times I visit, that feeling never changes. The energy, the atmosphere, and the excitement of arriving in the city are simply unmatched.
Arriving in New York
If you're arriving into JFK, you can pre-book the Express Pass service (sometimes referred to as a VIP or fast-track arrival service), which allows you to speed through immigration. I would always recommend looking into this, especially during busy periods.
That said, on this trip we landed at 7pm and were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we got through immigration and collected our luggage.
Many people recommend taking the train into Manhattan, and it's certainly a good option, but personally I've always preferred arranging a car transfer. For me, nothing compares to driving into Lower Manhattan for the first time, catching sight of that iconic skyline and feeling the excitement build as your holiday officially begins. It really is magical.

There's a Part of New York for Everyone
One of the reasons I love New York so much is that it genuinely caters to everyone.
If you love luxury, elegant surroundings and a slightly more sophisticated atmosphere, the areas around Central Park are perfect.
For first-time visitors wanting to be in the heart of the action with easy access to all the famous attractions, the theatre district and Times Square are ideal.
Those looking for trendy restaurants, stylish bars and a more fashionable vibe tend to gravitate towards neighbourhoods such as NoMad and the Meatpacking District.
If you prefer a more local feel, with independent cafés, beautiful streets and a slower pace, there are plenty of charming downtown neighbourhoods to explore too.
The beauty of New York is that there really isn't a right or wrong place to stay—it's simply about finding the area that suits your style of travel, which is exactly why I love helping clients plan their trips.

Is Four Nights Enough?
We spent four nights and five days in the city, which I personally think is the perfect amount of time for a couple.
It gives you enough time to experience the major sights, enjoy some incredible food, soak up the atmosphere and still travel at a relaxed pace without feeling completely exhausted by the time difference and jet lag.
Of course, if you have longer, New York combines beautifully with other destinations.
You could fly down to Florida and join a cruise from Miami or Port Canaveral, spend time exploring Orlando, or head north by train to Boston, with its historic sites, charming neighbourhoods and famous waterfront.
For those wanting an even bigger adventure, continuing onwards into Canada to experience Niagara Falls and Toronto makes for an incredible multi-centre itinerary.

The Magic of the City
There truly is nowhere else quite like New York.
During our stay, we packed in so much—classic American diners, iconic landmarks, incredible skyline views, rooftop bars, peaceful walks through Central Park and some of the most famous attractions in the world.
From the Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 Memorial to world-class museums, Broadway shows, shopping, sporting events, river cruises and hidden neighbourhood gems, there is something for absolutely everyone.
Whether you're a foodie, a history lover, a family with children, a couple looking for a romantic city break or a group of friends wanting a fun long weekend, New York delivers every single time.

A City for Every Season
One of the most wonderful things about New York is that there is never a bad time to visit.
Winter transforms the city into something straight out of Home Alone, with festive window displays, enormous Christmas trees, ice skating rinks and magical holiday markets.
Spring brings Central Park to life as the flowers bloom and the lighter evenings make exploring on foot even more enjoyable.
Summer is perfect for lazy afternoons in the parks, rooftop drinks, boat trips and soaking up the incredible atmosphere that fills the city.
Then comes autumn—my personal favourite—with crisp air, beautiful golden leaves, pumpkin-spiced everything and Halloween celebrations that Americans truly embrace like nowhere else.
Every season offers a completely different experience, which is why so many people, myself included, find themselves returning time and time again.

Already Planning Our Next Visit...
As soon as we arrived home, I was already thinking about our next trip.
Next winter, I can't wait to take my children to experience the magic of New York at Christmas—ice skating in Central Park, meeting Santa in the Big Apple and, of course, taking that iconic family photograph in front of the famous Christmas tree.
Some places never lose their magic, and for me, New York will always be one of them.
If you're dreaming of visiting but feel overwhelmed about where to stay, what to see, or how to fit everything in without missing out, please get in touch. I'd absolutely love to help you plan a trip that's perfect for you, your family or your budget.
After all, this is my favourite city in the world—and one I could happily return to again and again.
