How I Proactively Saved My Clients’ Honeymoon (Before Anything Went Wrong)
How I Proactively Saved My Clients’ Honeymoon (Before Anything Went Wrong)
This is an example of how I care for my clients before, during and after a trip...
There is nothing quite like planning a honeymoon. It is that once-in-a-lifetime trip where every detail matters: the right destination, the perfect hotel, smooth flights and the reassurance that everything is taken care of.
Recently, I had a couple due to fly for their honeymoon in October half term. Like many honeymooners, they were excited but also a little anxious. Their original flights routed via the Middle East as we’d booked it WAY before there was ever even rumblings of a problem. With so many headlines and “what if” conversations in the background, they could not quite relax and to be honest I’ve been thinking of them a lot too. Every time they thought about the trip, there was a niggling thought:
“What if our flights end up being a problem?”
Quietly watching in the background
From the moment the crisis was a problem, I made a point of keeping an eye on the flight situation, monitoring alternatives that would completely avoid the Middle East if needed. This was not something they had to ask me to do. It is simply part of how I look after my customers: staying ahead of potential issues, long before they turn into real problems.
I tracked different options that would:
- Avoid routings through the Middle East
- Keep the journey as smooth and sensible as possible
- Avoid any extra cost to them as a priority
I did the research, watched the availability and kept my notes up to date in the background so that if a change became the smart thing to do, I could act quickly.
Making the switch at the right time
Recently, I was able to move them onto alternative flights that completely avoid the Middle East and still work perfectly for their dates and timings. Crucially, this change:
- Did not cost them a penny more
- Protected the quality of their honeymoon experience
- Removed the “what if” anxiety around their original routing
From their side, there was no long evening on hold to an airline, no trawling through comparison sites, and no trying to guess which headlines mattered and which did not. I simply got in touch, explained the option I had found, and handled everything.
From “what if” to “we can’t wait”
The biggest difference is emotional, not logistical.
Instead of spending the next few months wondering whether their flights might become a problem, they can now move fully into that lovely, excited countdown phase: choosing outfits, planning dinners, talking about day trips and simply looking forward to being away together.
That is exactly what I want for every couple I look after.
What proactive travel care really looks like
For me, this is what being a personal Travel Counsellor is all about. It is not just about making a booking. It is about:
- Anticipating potential issues before they affect you
- Keeping an eye on changing routes and options so you do not have to
- Protecting your money and your plans, not asking for more
- Letting you enjoy the build-up, rather than feeling you need a back-up plan
Sometimes my work is very visible, like sharing a beautiful itinerary or finding that dream hotel. Other times, like with this honeymoon, it is the quiet, proactive work behind the scenes that makes the biggest difference.
If you, or someone you know, is planning a special trip, this is the level of care and attention I bring as standard. Your job is to dream about the cocktails, sunsets and lie-ins. My job is to worry about the “what ifs” and sort them before they reach you.
If you would like that kind of support for your own honeymoon or big trip, I would love to help you plan it. Get in touch and we can go from there.
