Twelve days, four states and countless unforgettable experiences. My latest USA adventure took me from the bright lights of New York and the music-filled streets of Nashville to the cowboy culture of Fort Worth and my favourite destination in America, Fort Collins, Colorado. Here's a look back at the journey and some of the insights I'll be using to help plan future client itineraries.

My favourite airlineAs I sit in Denver Airport waiting for flight five of six on my journey home, I'm reflecting on another incredible USA adventure.

The United States remains one of my favourite destinations, and every year I try to incorporate somewhere new alongside revisiting places I know and love. This trip took me through four states in just twelve days, combining iconic cities, new discoveries and one of my all-time favourite destinations.

My journey began with two nights in New York City. It had been six years since my last visit, and I'd forgotten just how much I adore this incredible city.

The energy is infectious, the skyline never fails to impress and there is always something new to discover. One of the highlights was finding a fantastic new hotel that will undoubtedly become one of my recommendations for future clients. Perfectly located in Midtown Manhattan, it was within walking distance of so many attractions and offered spectacular city views from my suite.

Perhaps most surprisingly, despite being in the heart of the city, it was wonderfully quiet – something that's often hard to find in New York.Times Square

Next came Nashville, a destination I'd been keen to experience for some time.

Staying close to Broadway on a Friday and Saturday night certainly didn't disappoint. The live music pouring from every venue, the buzzing atmosphere and the sheer energy of the city make it unlike anywhere else I've visited.

It's every bit as lively as you see on television.

While two nights was enough for me personally, I'm so pleased I experienced it. I also discovered a charming neighbourhood a few miles away that offered a much more relaxed atmosphere, proving that Nashville has plenty to offer beyond the famous party scene.Broadway Nashville

My next stop was Fort Worth, Texas, where I spent three nights exploring this fascinating city.

A long-awaited visit to the famous Stockyards was a definite highlight. Watching the daily cattle drive and soaking up the authentic Western atmosphere gave me a real taste of Texas history and culture.

It's a destination I think many UK travellers overlook, but it's well worth including on a Texas itinerary. Having experienced it first hand, I would probably recommend two nights rather than three, which is exactly the sort of insight that helps me create better itineraries for my clients.Cowgirl in For Worth!

The final stop was Fort Collins, Colorado – a place that has completely captured my heart.

This was my fourth visit, and it continues to be my favourite destination in the USA.

Located just an hour north of Denver, Fort Collins offers everything I love about America. It has a beautiful historic centre, independent shops, exceptional restaurants, craft breweries and some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet.

Surrounded by mountains, rivers and endless outdoor opportunities, it perfectly balances small-town charm with incredible natural beauty.

For me, this is "real town USA". It's authentic, welcoming and refreshingly relaxed.

In fact, if someone asked me to recommend just one state to visit in America, Colorado would be at the very top of my list.Rocky Mountains Colorado

One of the things I love most about travelling in the USA is combining completely different destinations within a single trip.

In just twelve days I experienced one of the world's greatest cities, the music capital of the South, cowboy culture in Texas and the laid-back mountain lifestyle of Colorado.

Every destination felt unique, and together they created an unforgettable journey.

That said, twelve days is ambitious. To enjoy a similar itinerary at a more relaxed pace, I'd suggest allowing at least fourteen days, particularly if you're visiting multiple states.

Whether you're dreaming of New York, Nashville, Texas, Colorado or a tailor-made journey that combines several destinations, I'd love to help create the perfect itinerary.

Having travelled extensively throughout the USA and visited many destinations multiple times, I can offer first-hand recommendations and honest advice to ensure your holiday is exactly right for you.
