Oasis Resort - Alona Beach - Panglao - Bohol - Philippines

I took the Ocean Jet Ferry from Cebu Pier 1 to Tagbilaran City Port in Bohol and this ferry departs regularly, possibly hourly and takes approximately 2 hours.

There is Business Class, which is a separate cabin on a higher deck, but Standard seats are fine.

I was heading for Oasis Resort at Alona Beach in Panglao and on arrival at Tagbilaran I booked a taxi using the ‘Grab’ App which arrived in a couple of minutes.

The drive to Alona Beach took around 30 minutes.

If flying into Panglao Airport (code TAG) it is only 2kms from Alona Beach. There are international flights and lots of domestic flights, so it is possible to get to Bohol quickly and easily.

Alona Beach in Panglao, is probably the most popular beach in Bohol, as the beach is so good, and you have everything you need close by.

There are some hotels at Alona Beach of the concrete variety with hundreds of rooms spread over lots of floors, but I wasn’t going to Bohol for that.

I was staying at Oasis Resort and the resort certainly justifies the name.

Oasis Resort is accessed from a side road just of the busier road, then, from the entrance at the security gate, it is approximately 100 yards to Reception, so this acts as a buffer and minimises any noise from outside.

The Resort itself is low rise, being bungalow style with rooms on the upper floor. There is a lot of space, but this space is full of grass and trees and plants with lots of wood incorporated into the structures and little relaxation areas. It is very, very green.

All of this further minimises any noise pollution from outside, so when you are in your room, it is very peaceful.

From the Reception, past the accommodation units around the sides and the swimming pool in the centre, it about 150m down to the Restaurant and Cocktail Bar at the front by the Beach.

You literally don’t hear anything as you walk along the little paths, between the trees and shrubs, until you get to the restaurant, then it is down a few steps to the seating and bar area.

The rooms are cool and functional with tiled floors and strong wooden beds and have a Ceiling Fan as well as Air Con and Cable TV, Fridge and Tea & Coffee.

The bathrooms are also clean, tiled and cool, which is important when it might be 40 degrees outside.

The swimming pool is a decent size, but to be fair most people would either be out experiencing a wonderful day tour, or making the most the gorgeous, white-sand Alona Beach.

There is a second, smaller pool near the restaurant, but this is really used by Dive Team for Scuba Dive training.

There is an indoor dining area on the First Floor overlooking the beach, but most diners use the Al Fresco dining area opposite the Cocktail Bar.

Diners do stroll in off the beach, as do customers looking for a drink, because the Cocktail Bar is very nice, with a very extensive menu, and it offers a perfect vantage point for people-watching as people stroll along the beach.

During the day, the wide white-sand beach is enjoyed by sun worshippers and swimmers, but in the evening, the restaurants and other food providers spill out on to the beach, so there are plenty of dining options in the resort, along the beach and also at the other end, road-side.

Oasis Resort is in a great location and is very nice, very green and very natural.

I stayed for 4 nights, but I wish I had stayed there longer and had less time somewhere else.
