A golden weekend with Travel Counsellors in Morocco's Capital

Travelling with Travel Counsellors is always about so much more than just seeing new places - it’s about connection, learning, and genuine enjoyment, all underpinned by expert planning and care. This September, a group of Travel Counsellors spent a long weekend in Rabat, Morocco. From the moment the group landed in Casablanca, the warmth of Moroccan hospitality was matched only by the sunshine that set the tone for three days filled with laughter, camaraderie, and discovery.

A warm welcome at Conrad Rabat Arzana

Travel Counsellors were treated to a special welcome at the Conrad Rabat Arzana - a masterclass in modern luxury on the Harhoura coastline. From the first sunset drinks by the pool and Café del Mar, it’s an invitation to truly unwind. The setting, complete with sweeping Atlantic views, offered the ideal backdrop for reconnecting, sharing stories, and beginning a weekend of celebration.

Exploring Rabat together

Saturday was all about discovery and connection, with a treasure hunt through the centre of Rabat organised by Intrepid Travel. Divided into lively teams, the Travel Counsellors explored the city’s highlights - from the Kasbah of the Udayas to the Chellah Necropolis and Hassan Tower - solving clues, tackling quiz questions, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

“Rabat was a fantastic destination, interacting with fellow Travel Counsellors and enjoying the Intrepid tour together was excellent,” shared Claire. “We loved learning about the history in a fun quiz activity, and enjoyed a great evening among friends (old and new) overlooking the river, soaking in the buzz of the city.”

Nikki echoed this sentiment: “There’s truly nothing like bringing together a group of like-minded individuals in a vibrant, foreign setting. Saturday took us to the heart of Rabat, where we dove into a fun and engaging scavenger hunt across the city. The evening highlight? Wandering through the winding souks, Google Maps in hand (and still going the wrong way!), enjoying those serendipitous moments of getting a little lost, and having the best conversations with each other."

Cooking and connection

Sunday brought everyone together for a taste of Morocco, as Travel Counsellors gathered on the Aquamarine Terrace for a cooking demonstration led by the hotel's expert chefs. Preparing traditional tagines and briouates tested skills and brought plenty of laughter to the group. As Claire shared: “Trying our hands at Moroccan cooking was challenging, but also comical—thankfully the hotel’s expert chefs were able to deliver lunch at their usual high standards.”

Others opted to unwind by the pool, making the most of the relaxed atmosphere and attentive service. Whether immersed in culinary discovery or soaking up the sunshine, every guest enjoyed a day crafted just for them.

Celebration at La Brise

The weekend culminated in a dinner at La Brise, the hotel’s elegant terrace restaurant overlooking the Atlantic. Here, the laid-back sophistication of the setting matched the sense of achievement in the room. Travel Counsellors enjoyed a delicious three-course meal, listened to a live band, and shared their favourite moments form a wonderful trip.

With warm autumn temperatures, open-air cafés still spilling onto the streets, and a calendar of events continuing well beyond peak season, it's an easy choice for anyone looking for somewhere that feels both relaxed and full of character.
