Celebrating the King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation

Earlier this year, Travel Counsellors was named a recipient of the King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation. Today, we celebrated at our support team office in Manchester, where Mrs Diane Hawkins JP LLB, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, presented the award.

Celebrating the King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation

The prestigious accolade recognises our TC Teams technology, which supports Travel Counsellors in turning your big travel ideas into extraordinary trips, while giving you confidence that the details are in expert hands.

Innovation designed around you

Innovation can sound like a buzzword, but for us, it means giving our Travel Counsellors the tools and support to provide incredible travel experiences tailor-made to you. We don’t just attract experts; we help them become more successful.

Our Global CEO, Steve Byrne, explains:

“For us, innovation is about using technology to unlock even more of what great people can achieve.”

It’s one reason your Travel Counsellor can map out a multi-stop honeymoon across Bali, Singapore and Sydney in one place, or tweak your ski itinerary while you’re already at the airport.

From the way your trip is planned behind the scenes to how you access your documents on the myTC app, everything is built to make your journey easier. TC Teams supports your Travel Counsellor, giving them access to shared expertise and more time to focus on the details that make your trip tailored to you.

The perfect balance of technology and personal service

Your Travel Counsellor combines personal service with technology that helps keep your trip organised. You can find every tour, reservation and timing in your myTC app for easy access, and watch your holiday plans unfold day by day on a map with our Interactive Itinerary.

A delayed flight can put the first evening of your holiday at risk. Your Travel Counsellor can help keep the evening on track by rearranging your transfer and adjusting your restaurant reservation, so you can focus on getting there.

A long-standing approach to innovation

Travel Counsellors previously received the Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2003, followed by awards for International Trade in 2014 and 2020. The 2026 King’s Award for Innovation marks the fourth time we’ve received one of the UK’s most prestigious business honours, and our second recognition for Innovation.

In 2026, we were just one of 185 recipients of the award, including just one of 52 for innovation, and one of just six organisations in Greater Manchester.

Each award marks a step in our ongoing work to improve the tools and support available to our Travel Counsellors, and the experience they can create for you. From faster itinerary updates to clearer, more detailed travel plans you can access on your phone, every step has been about making travel feel easier to manage. Winning the King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation reflects years of refining the details that shape your experience.

For Steve Byrne, this recognition is also a celebration of the people who have helped shape the business:

“To receive this recognition for the fourth time means a great deal to us and it truly does belong to our whole community. I’m incredibly grateful to every Travel Counsellor, colleague, supplier partner and customer who has contributed to our journey and continues to make Travel Counsellors such a special business.”

What this means for your next holiday

Whether you’re dreaming of a honeymoon in the Maldives, a family holiday in Orlando or a solo trip through Japan, your Travel Counsellor combines personal expertise with award-winning tools that help keep your plans organised.

We hope this award inspires you to discover what a more personal approach to travel could make possible. Find out more about Travel Counsellors on our homepage.

23 October 2026

Six days, three cities, one very special train journey, and a lot of incredible scenery in between. A group of Travel Counsellors recently travelled through Western Canada, starting in Vancouver before heading through the Rockies to Jasper, Banff, and finally Calgary. It was a busy few days, but that meant getting a real feel for just how much variety you can pack into a Canada holiday – from mountains and waterfalls to city neighbourhoods, food tours, iconic lakes, and a few unexpected moments along the way.
