Introducing our Enriching Escapes

Good travel should be enriching for all. It should bring you deeper into local cultures, to get an authentic taste of your destination; savouring the dishes, the landscapes, and the people that make the special moments along the way.

Introducing our Enriching Escapes

We’ve partnered with sustainable tourism NGO, The Travel Foundation, developing a new approach to holiday itinerary development to create our Enriching Escapes. These carefully curated trips are designed to bring out the best of the regions you’ll navigate, creating connections and memories that will last a lifetime.

Who are The Travel Foundation?

The Travel Foundation is an international sustainable tourism NGO dedicated to ensuring that tourism has a positive impact on destinations. They work in countries around the world supporting tourism organisations to accelerate change towards a resilient tourism model that puts resident communities at its centre.

Travel Counsellors has been a proud supporter of The Travel Foundation for a number of years and have worked together on several projects to help us and our customers better understand the challenges facing the tourism industry and where improvements can be made.

“We’ve collaborated with Travel Counsellors and destination partners to create a framework for itinerary building that includes more opportunities to support local communities and the environment, whilst reducing negative impacts. The end result is as much about improving the experience for customers as it is about raising the bar on sustainability.”

Rebecca Armstrong, Head of Impact at the Travel Foundation

Who do these itineraries impact?

First of all, there’s you, the traveller. These exciting new itineraries to destinations such as Costa Rica, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Iceland have been designed with the help of destination experts to ensure they include the most engaging and authentic experiences.

Then, there’s the people on the ground, those that you’ll meet along the way (like Marielo) who are using travel to better their lives through inviting visitors in for a taste of their homeland.

And there’s the landscapes and wildlife you’ve travelled to enjoy. Working with The Travel Foundation and our destination partners, we’ve included many activities that help to support preservation of natural landscapes and the creatures that call them home.

Experience boutique beachfront living in Mexico

14 August 2026

For those who like their Caribbean escape with a little more character, The Fives Oceanfront offers boutique luxury right on the beachfront in Puerto Morelos. This former fishing village has kept a noticeably slower pace than some of the Riviera Maya’s larger resorts, with local restaurants, small shops, and the town’s leaning lighthouse all within easy reach. Back at the hotel, the atmosphere is equally laid-back, with contemporary design, plenty of space to switch off, and the Caribbean Sea taking centre stage.

Experience the adventurous side of Turks and Caicos

14 August 2026

This corner of the Caribbean has all the ingredients for an easy Caribbean escape, from the powder-soft sands of Grace Bay to brilliantly clear water made for long afternoons by the sea. But spend a little more time here, and there’s another side to the islands worth exploring. You can kayak through mangroves, snorkel over coral reefs, venture across to North and Middle Caicos, and seek out local food and music back on Providenciales. Better still, these experiences can easily sit alongside slower beach days, giving you a holiday that feels adventurous without needing to be action-packed from morning to night.

Discover the Dolomites, Italy's ultimate mountain escape

14 August 2026

There is another side to Italy beyond its famous cities, coastlines, and lakes. In the north of the country, the Dolomites rise dramatically above alpine meadows, forested valleys, and villages where Italian, Austrian, and Ladin influences come together. Recognised by UNESCO for their exceptional natural beauty and geology, these mountains are made for anyone wanting to spend their days outdoors without giving up the things Italy does so well: beautiful places to stay, long lunches, and excellent wine. Whether you're an experienced hiker or simply like the idea of cable-car rides, gentle walks, and lunch in a mountain hut, here's how to experience the Dolomites your way.
