Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen: The Riviera Maya all-inclusive that feels anything but ordinary

There are all-inclusive resorts where everything you need is conveniently in one place, and then there are resorts where exploring the hotel becomes part of the holiday itself. Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen very much falls into the latter camp. This adults-only retreat on Mexico’s Riviera Maya brings together contemporary design, 485 suites, an impressive collection of restaurants and bars, and some far less expected touches. Think cenote-style pools hidden amongst stone and greenery, an interior lagoon beach, rooftop swimming, taco tastings, and a nightclub you need to know how to find. Better still, Playa del Carmen’s famous Fifth Avenue is around ten minutes away by car when you do feel like venturing beyond the resort.

Swim somewhere different every day

Secrets Moxché has seven pools, but it’s the resort’s three man-made cenote pools that are inspired by the natural sinkholes found throughout the Yucatán Peninsula. They offer a completely different atmosphere to your usual Caribbean poolside scene, surrounded by rockwork and greenery. There’s also a large interior lagoon beach designed to offer calm water away from the open sea.  Guests staying in the Preferred Club (an extra special touch for your holiday with upgraded in-room amenities, an enhanced mini-bar and VIP concierge service amongst other benefits) have an additional option: an exclusive rooftop infinity pool. It’s a particularly good choice if your idea of a Mexican escape involves long afternoons looking out towards the Caribbean with somewhere peaceful to retreat to between swims.

The design brings the Yucatán indoors
One of the most interesting things about Secrets Moxché is how much thought has gone into the resort itself. Rather than feeling disconnected from its surroundings, interiors use earthy textures, natural-looking finishes, wood, stone, and greenery to reflect the landscapes of the Yucatán. Even the suites follow that approach, combining contemporary styling with warmer, more organic details. All have a furnished balcony or terrace, while many feature outdoor soaking tubs, and swim-out accommodation is available within the Preferred Club.

Dining is an experience in its own right

Food is another area where Secrets Moxché goes well beyond the expected all-inclusive formula. There are 11 dining choices, including seven à la carte restaurants, alongside a buffet, grill, café, and 24-hour dining options. You can move from Italian to Mexican, French, and Asian flavours over the course of your stay, and reservations generally aren’t required for the resort’s main restaurants. Meals and a selection of international and domestic drinks form part of the Unlimited-Luxury® offering.
There are also more immersive food experiences available for guests who want to make an evening of it. A dedicated taco experience pairs seven different tacos with seven drinks, while Tanoshii offers seven- or 12-course omakase dining. These experiences are another way to make food one of the memorable parts of the holiday, rather than simply somewhere to stop between the pool and the beach.

Stay up late enough and you'll discover another side of Moxché

There’s an open-air amphitheatre, live music, shows, and plenty happening throughout the evening, but one of the resort’s more unusual features is deliberately harder to find: a hidden speakeasy-style dance club. Guests need a secret password to get inside, adding a little fun to the evening before the music takes over. It’s a small detail, but it sums up what the resort does particularly well - there always seems to be another space or experience waiting to be discovered.

Make time for the spa
With so much happening elsewhere in the resort, it would be easy to overlook the Secrets Spa, but that would be a mistake. There are 16 treatment rooms, including five VIP double treatment rooms with their own private plunge pools. Beyond massages and facials, guests can spend time moving through the hydrotherapy circuit, sauna, steam room, and outdoor pool, which incorporates pressure jets, a bubble area, reflexology features, and waterfalls. There’s also a Hammam experience inspired by the Turkish bath tradition, making this an easy place to dedicate considerable time to doing very little at all.

Where to stay, eat, and explore in Bermuda

04 September 2026

Bermuda may be compact, but it packs plenty into its nine parishes. Across the island, you’ll find pale pink beaches, turquoise coves, historic towns, coral reefs, and pastel-coloured homes topped with distinctive white limestone roofs designed to collect rainwater. Add in welcoming communities and a refined island atmosphere, Bermuda works equally well for a relaxing beach holiday as it does for an active escape or a short break filled with sightseeing.
