The Atlantic is in view from The Twelve Apostles, while Table Mountain rises behind the hotel. Start with the cable car and a wine tasting, then take the peninsula road past Chapman’s Peak, Cape Point and Boulders Beach. From Cape Town, the route turns east by car: a heritage house in Swellendam, a former power station in Knysna, a night in Gqeberha and three nights on safari at Pumba.
Days 1-3: Cape Town
The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa sits on the coastal road between Camps Bay and Hout Bay, with the mountain slopes behind and the Atlantic ahead. One full-day tour pairs a cable-car ride up Table Mountain with a signature tasting in the Cape Winelands. Another follows the coast around the peninsula: Chapman’s Peak curves above the ocean, the Cape Point funicular climbs towards the lighthouse, and at Boulders Beach, penguins weave between the rocks.
Day 4: Swellendam
Pick up your hire car and drive east to Swellendam. Schoone Oordt Country House is a restored heritage home, its Georgian façade framed by a Victorian verandah. After the city and coast, spend the night in one of South Africa’s oldest towns before continuing towards Knysna.
Day 5-6: Knysna
The Turbine Boutique Hotel & Spa occupies Knysna’s former power station on Thesen Island. Original turbines and industrial fittings remain inside, lending the building a striking link to the town’s past. Stay two nights, with time to explore the island and lagoon between drives.
Day 7: Gqeberha
Continue to Gqeberha for a night at Mantis No.5 Boutique Art Hotel. The restored Art Deco hotel displays a collection of more than 200 works, and the ocean is a short walk away. It’s a one-night pause before the final drive to Pumba.
Days 8-10: Pumba Private Game Reserve
After Cape Town and the Garden Route, the journey ends with three nights on safari at Pumba. Morning and afternoon drives take you into the Eastern Cape bushveld with your guide, looking for the Big Five and Pumba’s free-roaming pride of white and tawny lions. Seeing a white lion in the wild is rare—and a remarkable way to end the trip.
