Disney Magic at Sea

The most magical few days at sea

Jemma Kelly on 18 Jul 2021

If someone had told me a while ago, I was going to go on a Disney Cruise – without my children – I would have said ‘no chance’ but last month – I did just that!

Due to the 2020 pandemic, Disney were offering UK Cruises this Summer sailing from Newcastle, London Tilbury, Southampton, Greenock and Liverpool.

Onboard

A perfect opportunity if you’ve never cruised before as it gives you a little taster without having to leave the UK. I chose a 2 night Liverpool sailing with my two sisters and 13-year-old Niece on the Disney Magic. I had never cruised before with Disney so it was all very new to me.

From the moment we set foot on the ship, we had impeccable and personal service from start to finish. Onboard Disney Cruise Lines, they offer their innovative rotational dining, so you have the same servers throughout your stay. This is such a lovely touch as they really get to know you all personally, they remember what you like to eat and drink, and offer recommendations suited to you!

There are 3 main dining rooms onboard, Lumiere’s, Rapunzel’s Royal Table, and Animator’s Palate. Including our breakfasts; we got to eat in all three. I could write a whole blog on the food alone but instead I’ll describe in one word – incredible!

Each restaurant is themed and without ruining the surprise too much; Animator’s Palate is my favourite – it’s a real interactive, personal, and unique experience.

Animators Palate

Finished masterpiece!

There were plenty opportunities for character meets during both the day and evening, where you could have a character selfie too. The show ‘Disney Dreams’ is not to be missed. It’s beautiful from start to finish with a whole host of favourite Disney films in one sitting.

Characters

We particularly enjoyed the adult shows too – they were interactive and really funny; I think we all got up on the stage during our time on the ship in various shows. There’s also a separate adult pool and pool bar should you have no children and want to relax on the top deck where its much quieter.

There was plenty to do onboard for guests of all ages. In fact, I felt like I missed out on a lot as there was simply not enough time to experience everything.

So moral of the blog – I best book another one. And next time, I’ll take the kids with me!
