Discovering India’s Golden Triangle with Exodus Adventure Travels

The Golden Traingle

India has a way of captivating every sense; the colour, the chaos, the calm. I’ve just returned from touring the iconic Golden Triangle with Exodus Adventure Travels, visiting Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, where history, culture and luxury came together in the most unforgettable way. Here’s a glimpse into this extraordinary journey through the heart of India.

I’ve just come back from an incredible trip through India’s Golden Triangle with Exodus Adventure Travels, covering Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. It’s a route that really captures the heart of India: vibrant, spiritual and endlessly surprising. Everything ran so smoothly thanks to Exodus, I could focus on soaking up the colours, sounds and flavours of each city.

Delhi — Where Old Meets New

Our adventure started in Delhi, a city that never seems to stop. Old Delhi is chaotic in the most exhilarating way, so we jumped straight into a rickshaw ride through its narrow lanes. Tuk-tuks zoomed past, bicycle bells rang constantly and traders called out their wares. The smell of frying samosas mingled with incense and spices from the stalls lining the streets of Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market. Every corner was a surprise, full of life and colour, and it really gave a sense of the city’s energy and spirit.

In contrast, New Delhi showed a calmer, more ordered side with its wide tree lined avenues and elegant colonial architecture. We visited Humayun’s Tomb, a peaceful oasis surrounded by manicured gardens. Walking there, it was easy to see how this Mughal masterpiece inspired the Taj Mahal. It was a moment to pause, breathe and really feel the layers of history around us.

Agra — More Than the Taj

From Delhi, we travelled to Agra, home of the world-famous Taj Mahal. Seeing it at sunrise is something you never forget. The marble glowed soft pink and gold in the morning light, reflecting in the pools around the monument. Standing there, it was impossible not to feel the romance, artistry and devotion behind every inch of the building. No photograph could ever capture the emotion of that moment.

Agra has much more to offer beyond the Taj. Agra Fort with its towering red sandstone walls, spacious courtyards and intricate palaces gives a real sense of Mughal grandeur. Walking through it, it’s easy to imagine the emperors who once ruled here and the daily life of the royal court. Later we visited a workshop where artisans still create marble inlay by hand, a skill passed down through generations. Watching them work was fascinating — it’s proof that Agra’s creativity continues far beyond its monuments.

Jaipur — The Pink City

Our final stop was Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital and easily the most colourful city on the route. Known as the Pink City, Jaipur is alive with markets selling vibrant textiles, glittering jewellery and handicrafts, and the air carries the scent of jasmine and spices.

We began with Amber Fort, perched high above the Aravalli Hills. Its courtyards, mirrored halls and breathtaking views made it clear why it is one of India’s most photographed sites. In the city itself, the Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, fascinated with its delicate façade, originally designed so royal women could watch street life below unseen.

One morning we joined an Aarti ceremony at Kanwar Nagar, a spiritual experience I’ll never forget. Watching the lamps flicker and listening to the chants echo in the warm morning air was moving and serene. It’s one of those rare travel moments that stops you in your tracks, reminding you why we travel — to feel connected to something bigger.

One of the highlights of Jaipur wasn’t a monument at all. We visited Kiran’s Kitchen for a cookery class in her family home. We were welcomed like old friends, learning to roll chapatis, cook fragrant curries and prepare lentil dal while swapping stories and laughter. It wasn’t just about food, it was a window into Indian family life and hospitality, warm, generous and full of character.

Evenings in Jaipur were perfect for wandering the vibrant streets, browsing local crafts and textiles, and then relaxing in boutique hotels that combine traditional design with modern comfort. Each hotel felt like part of the city itself, giving a real sense of Rajasthan’s royal heritage while providing a place to recharge between adventures.

A Journey That Stays With You

Throughout the trip, Exodus Adventure Travels made everything seamless. Our guide Ajay was passionate and knowledgeable, sharing history and anecdotes with humour and insight. Hotels were chosen for comfort and character, helping you feel part of the culture rather than removed from it.

The Golden Triangle isn’t just about ticking off famous sights. It’s about connecting — to the people, the culture and the rhythm of everyday life in India. From rickshaw rides and bustling markets to quiet temple ceremonies and home-cooked meals, every moment was full of life, colour and meaning.

This journey engages all the senses and leaves a lasting impression. If you’re ready to experience India in a way that blends authentic discovery with comfort and care, I’d love to help you plan your own unforgettable Golden Triangle adventure.
