Montenegro Summer 25

We flew into Tivat airport and took a taxi to our hotel Vivid Blue Serenity Resort which is 10 minutes outside the resort of Budva. The hotel is lovely with a fab inifinity pool with views over the clear and beautifully blue sea. The hotel also offer a complimentary shuttle transfer down to Pura Vida Beach club which is 5 minutes from the hotel by taxi but down a steep hill which you can walk down to and up again to the hotel but only if you are feeling very energetic. Close by 5-10 minutes by taxi or local bus (if you are organised as only once an hour bus service) are the villages of Przno and Sveti Stefan (this has a very pretty island connected to the mainland via a causeway) but is a luxury hotel and therefore the island is only accessible to guests of the hotel. Przno has a small sandy beach and lively tavernas and restaurants but still with a traditional vibe.

On the second day of our trip we went to Kotor which is a large town on a bay and well worth a visit for its medieval Old Town and busy waterfront. Be aware though that it's a port for the cruise ships that visit the eastern mediterranean and it can get busy.

We arranged a visit to Lake Skadar where our driver took us over the moutains fot spectacular views of the coast below before after an hours drive we arrived at Lake Skadar two thirds of which is in Montenegro and one third in Albania as we are close to the border. The Lake is a great place to get out on a boat and see the lily pads and there are a large array of different birds including herons, and Pelicans. A lot of people like to swim in the lake from the boats and its a pleasant way to spend 2 or 3 hours.

The town of Budva was only about 15 minutes by Taxi from our hotel and has a large beachfront and developments of newly built hotels and apartments and we liked the views from the rooftop bar 504 down to the old town and seafront and when we visited as it was a national holiday so it was busy with a music festival that evening which made for a buzzy atmoshere.

We found eating and drinks in hotels and restaurants relatively expensive with prices not dissimilar to the UK but the local wine was very good and if you buy from the local stores very inexpensive. I would recommend montenegro as a summer destination for its beautiful scenery, history and wonderful weather
