Honeymoon in Lapland
First part of our two centre honeymoon to Lapland was just magical
We chose a winter wedding and wanted our first part of our honeymoon to be Lapland, and that’s that is exactly what we did at Wilderness Hotel Muotka in Finnish Lapland, and it could not have been more magical.
Far from being “just” a winter holiday, our time at Muotka felt like stepping into a snow globe built especially for two, where every day brought a new adventure and every night ended under impossibly starry skies.
Arriving at Muotka, the first thing that struck us was the silence. No traffic, no crowds, just pine trees heavy with snow. I remember thinking the hotel main building was like every cheesy Christmas movie I have ever watched.

Inside, it was all warm timber, roaring fires and cosy corners. Perfect honeymoon territory
We tried cross country skiing, snow boot walking (and in walking up through the forest we came across reindeer just wandering free. It was just beautiful to see.), Reindeer farm and sleigh ride, Husky dog sledding, (we got to meet and cuddle with the Huskies, they were so cuddly and enjoyed the attention they got), snowmobile, evening campfires chasing the northern lights.

And of course, building a honeymoon snowman and sledging
down the hills was just fabulous.

Who says Lapland is just for children! We even had a honeymoon visit to Santa gifted by the lovely staff at the hotel.
Our lodge had panoramic windows, so we never missed an opportunity to see the dancing northern lights, and we were extremely lucky to have seen them during our stay.
Our last night we spent in an Arora Cabin with the glass roof, which was a lovely experience, both our rooms had Saunas so we could warm up after all those winter activities.
The food at the hotel was delicious, very fresh and so tasty. We had to try the obligatory Reindeer meat whilst there. Which was surprisingly good.
Wilderness Hotel Muotka Is Perfect for A Honeymoon due to its Romantic setting and a balance of adventure and relaxation sat in front of the wood burner, or chilling in the lobby with a hot chocolate.
The chance to see the Northern Lights together is the kind of shared memory that stays with you for life, and we did.
The memories we made in Lapland will stay with us both forever. It is just a Magical place in this world
If your idea of a dream honeymoon includes snowflakes, starry skies and once-in-a-lifetime Arctic experiences, this little wilderness lodge in Finnish Lapland might be exactly what you are looking for.
