The itinerary begins in San José, where city streets, museums, local neighbourhoods, and a visit to Escazú offer an introduction to Costa Rican culture before the journey moves deeper into nature. From there, you’ll travel to Tortuguero by boat, crossing through rainforest and agricultural landscapes before reaching one of the country’s most atmospheric wildlife regions.

Wildlife is a huge part of this itinerary. In Tortuguero, canal cruises reveal a landscape of waterways, jungle, and coastal wilderness, with the chance to spot birds, monkeys, reptiles, and other species along the way. The journey then continues to Arenal, where rainforest gathers around the volcano, the hanging bridges offer a canopy-level view of the forest, and a visit to the hot springs brings a slower, restorative end to the day.

Monteverde brings a completely different mood and landscape. Here, cloudforest trails, hanging bridges, and an atmospheric night walk reveal one of Costa Rica’s most distinctive ecosystems, with the chance to look for the elusive quetzal and learn how life changes in the forest after dark. It’s a memorable stop for nature lovers, combining beautiful scenery with a real sense of discovery.

The tour ends around Manuel Antonio, where rainforest slips down towards the Pacific and the pace begins to slow down. You’ll explore the national park, known for its wildlife, white-sand beaches, and vivid blue water, before enjoying a more local flavour of the region with a visit to Quepos farmers’ market and a cooking experience at a private ranch in Londres.
